This right there is why ppl hate stealerships
Went to get my recall work (spiral cable, seat rails) done, and they gave my car a "multi point inspection."
This is what they said they've found wrong with it: And this is how much they said they'd charge to fix it: Oh no, that all sounds important, but I'm sure they had a good look and I can trust them, right? Well lets have a look at the bits I can easily check and verify: Filled washer fluid to proper level: Bone-dry. Adjusted tire pressure to 36 psi: Serpentine belt cracked/damaged: I'm half tempted to get a brake fluid spindle and check that too. As far as the "running rough" goes? Bullcrap. I had cars that run rough. I've had cars that were quieter inside, but those weren't Yarisses. I'll accept that maybe the brake fluid, and MT fluid could be changed, and based on mileage, a new serpentine belt might not be a bad idea one of these days, but going by what they said is wrong with my car and the work they said they did, for all I know the recall work wasn't done either and all they did was run it through the car wash and sprayed some tire shine on the wheels. When I get it done, I sure as hell won't have Toyota of Grapevine do it. |

It did not say the tire pressure was adjusted. It was a suggestion.
Anyways.. Your belt does show cracks. Look at the inside of the belt. And 100+$ for the belt and labour is about right to me. |

Just did the spark plugs myself, and WITH buying a ratchet and extension, and a 16 mm socket, I was still under $50 and it took less than five minutes. |

That's the sad reality of garage work now. Nothing is charged by actual time required. It's all 'job' cost.

And this is why I try to do all of my own maintenance. I hate bringing my car in to the $tealership.

World Class Inspection, lol!
Maybe get it checked at a different Toyota dealership. I'm sure there's lots in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. Also, you can clean your throttle body easily, just purchase some throttle body cleaner spray. It would save you the 89$ + tax + labor. |

Doing a check like that is not surprising, it is a chance for the dealerships to try and make money, after all the are businesses.
However I agree those prices are nuts. A good independent mechanic would do it for half that.

Besides the usual rudeness like being hung up on and such the dealership I go to hasn't tried to upsell yet at least. I never let my guard down when at dealerhships in fact it's heighted. I will assume they're lying everytime they open their mouths.

Yeah but that crowd probably doesn't drive seven year old Yarisses, and did I mention that's still the newest car I've ever owned, even now that I've driven it for two years.

I don't know how i would live in the states. Dealers are so far from each other they easily take advantages of people.
