DIY: Make Your Own Short Shifter
First, here is the final product. 3.25" shorter shifter. I've had this weighted knob on it, or right now I'm using the stock shift knob.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I took a grinder and cut below the threads. ![]() ![]() Then, I drilled out and slotted the Toyota 12mm adapter that came with the knob to be a snug fit onto the shaft. ![]() ![]() You screw on the shift knob (which takes A LOT of effort and blisters, trust me. It's a VERY snug fit.) ![]() (To use the stock shift knob, you have to drill it out to be a really tight fit, and hammer it on with a rubber mallet.) And you're done. It's pretty simple, and the end product is a short shifter that you didn't have to pay any money for. I also have this coupled with an engine-bay short throw kit.
