Has anyone redirected the day time running lights from the headlamps comming on to having the park lights turn on?

Not redirected, but a module from webelectrics turns your ambers into DRL's:

which module did you use? the DRL-1 Universal Module? How did you install it?

Yes - the Universal Module. If you get it I'd be happy to get you the wire colors for the connections. I had a friend do it for me but it doesn't look difficult.
