Ah! Okay, since I first got my Yaris, I've taken well care of it. I've cleaned it and washed it almost every week because of where I live. It's very dry, dusty, and we don't have well paved roads or anything. So I'm guessing one day, my dad was cleaning the inside applying armor-all or something and it hit the plastic part of the dash cluster? i'm not sure exactly what its called in english.. But here are some pics. I guess he didn't wipe it off and with the heat, the drops went into the plastic leaving behind these ugly marks.
And Its impossible to take off! I've tried cleaning it almost every day using windex and I've tried to sort of scratch them off with any small, hard, thin thing I could find. Nothing works! It doesn't seem to be on the surface anymore... Does anyone know how I can clean this off and leave it clear again? =/ I have this Meguiars headlight restoration kit that I used on the headlights and it removed 95% of the scratches and it took the cloudiness away.. I was wondering if that would work? someone pleeease please help! ![]()

I usually use the metal-polishing cotton-wool stuff - it's called DuraGlit in England, but I forget what it's called in the US. Smells like sh!t, looks like moldy cotton batting, but it is great for polishing plastic.
But PLEASE, try a little bit in the corner to make sure that this plastic is OK with it. |

Try Plexus-usually available at motorcycle shops to clean their plastic windshields-I don't think anything will remove the spots-they look liked they've etched the plastic, but you might find something that minimizes them. For anyone else out there thinking they need to put some protectant on the dash-don't, it's hard plastic and Toyota did a great job of putting a matte finish on it that does not reflect back at you in the windshield. Just a damp soft cloth is all that's needed to dust it and if you get something on the dash try water first.

Another good product is Micro-mesh. We use it on plexiglass light wedges and lenses for aircraft.

you might have to buff those out... prolly more effort than its worth... I can't imagine a lil plastic piece like that costing much more than $20... You'd prolly spend more than that in products and time just trying to salvage.

I tried the alcohol, but it didn't work. The funny thing was that they'd dissappear and 3 seconds later they'd just pop back up again. lol it was kinda funny. So I decided to use what I had before I tried that micro mesh or never dull you guys recommended. I used that headlight restoration kit with the buffing pad and it worked. I wasn't able to get ALL the dots, but most of em are gone. I couldn't get the ones along the edges cuz I was afraid of breaking some parts.. But it worked well I guess. I might get that micro mesh later on to get the rest of em, but thanks everyone! =]

I had the same issue, the dealer replaced it for me labour-free, charging only for the price of the dash glass. He told me that you're not supposed to use/let any sort of chemicals touch the dash glass. It is very sensitive..
That piece of plastic cost me $48.70 AUD, they ain't cheap at all - P/N T83852-52A80 (not sure if it's diff for a sedan)...
