Newbie with new Yaris

Hi,

I'm brand new here and bought my first Toyota yesterday, a 2009 Yaris 3-door. I can't put into words how much I like this little car already. It is an absolute hoot and one of the coolest looking little 3 doors ever produced in my opinion.

I'm an older guy, 62, on Social Security disability retirement. Utilizing the "Cash for Clunkers" program currently running by the Feds and Toyota's generous cash back offer and a dealer very willing to meet my pricing needs, I am now the proud owner of an absolutely red, absolutely amazing little car.

I'm hoping this forum will fill in my knowledge about my new car and hopefully generate a few friendships.

I'm also a guitar player and love to talk guitars as well. Anyway, thanks for letting me join your forum. I hope it is mutually beneficial.

Wecome UncleBear.

I 'm about a month shy of 62 myself and I also find the 3 door very apealing for what it is.

My other car is an '02 Celica and I imagine that most thought I was much younger because of that and the fact that I refuse to drive an automatic.

Anyway, I now find that I enjoy driving both cars equally for different reasons.

BTW, I'm a former bass player

Well, it has been a week since I got my new Yaris and I have to say, I am incredibly happy with my little red wagon. This car is so fun to drive and so darned easy to park.

I've heard and read so many good things about Toyota that I am really looking forward to a long and happy relationship with my Yaris.

Welcome!!! I agree, the Yaris is a looker, both outside and in. I love the restrained design of the interior. One can tell great care was taken w/ the design on the outside, too...so many nice little details here and there. The car has personality.

As for driving, it's a blast, too. Some cars have to be driven fast to bring out the fun...not the Yaris. The light, quick steering coupled w/ that rediculous turning radius makes every trip, no matter how small, fun and engaging.

And all this at a very attractive price!!

Some cars try too hard to be fun...the Yaris does it with ease in an understated, classy way that is earier to live with long term.
