getting ready to purchase speaker replacements
some questions that I haven't really seen an answer to:
1. Why does crutchfield show that only a few of their 6.5" and 6"x9" speakers fit? (I would assume it has to do with the depth of the speaker) is there an easy remedy? 2. Components seem to be popular when replacing the front speakers. How/where is everyone mounting the tweeters? |

Some 6.5s may be too deep and then your window may hit it when it rolls down. I personally have put my components in the door "sails" to get a oem type of look. But its better to have them mounted in the pillars aimed at the window. You get better sound staging.

Well...how about this? I've got pics of a respectable component set that I just dropped into my wife's Tacoma a few weeks back. These sound great and will definately clear the windows of the Yaris. Pictures to follow...
I'll also put up proper pictures of what YarisSedan is talking about when it comes to component placement...which is exactly what is happening to my little Yairs when I get back in April. It's all just a big pile in the storeroom of the sound shop right now. ![]() ![]() Yes...I know...I didn't have a countersink bit. It still torques me. I may open up the doors and redo the baffles when I get home if it is still biting at me in a few months. Oh, this is an Exile Audio XPe 65 set. It's a nice little lower mid range slim component set. It does sound great regardless... ![]() Here's a pic of a little a-pillar shot as was mentioned previously:

thanks for the replies and thanks for the pics and slim comp recommendation. I was looking at an Eclipse 3-way component set that I found a really good deal on, but I'll do some more research before going through with it
