Hood in production

The winning design from the Micro Image hood contest is now in production phase. These will be available for purchase within 4-6 weeks, in primered fiberglass. Carbon Fiber is also a possible (and more expensive) option.

Target introductory price will be $300 or less.

Whoa are there any "close-up" pictures? I'm curious if there are any other vents on the hood other than the one in the middle?

i'm pretty sure that pic is a photoshop so no close up really available. so what you see is what you get as far as i know. no other vents.

I like it...I must see finished product on a car before I commit though. Design is kickass though

It's CTScott's design. It's a forward-facing recessed scoop, a little bit of a nod to the Celica. Final details will be worked out on the prototype. I'll post up working pics as we go along, feedback is always welcome. So is encouragement, LOL.

Pretty sure we are going with just the one opening. A nice detail is that a parked car won't get too wet under the hood like existing vented designs do (including the one on my car).

So all that air that goes in through the vent, where does it get out?

Is the scoop raised at all or, is it just recessed?

BTW, My other car is a silver '02 Celica with a "C-One" style raised scoop that I installed.

A scoop can change the whole personality of a car and balance out the styling.

I would like to see the scoop half raised, half depressed, that will give the line of the hood some character. But we'll see when we have more than one photoshopped pic!

808, I think you mean what mesh would go in the scoop by "vent"? Don't know that yet but it will be black.

fmicle, air will escape below the motor, as it does with forward-facing scoops.

The Kaminari reverse-cowl (and similar designs) directs the air OUT the vent, forward scoops direct the air IN, just to be clear.

The "Hex" mesh would look great and follow the front grill nicely
