They were standard on all US Yaris in 09, but were eliminated for 2010.

I think they stopped being standard on the 09s. I don't have them on my 10, and I don't recall seeing them on the 09s that I shopped, either.

I just found my 09 brochure. DRL was part of the "All-Weather Guard Package" on 09 LBs and wasn't offered on the 09 Sedans.

For 2010 this was from the "new car features":

2. Lighting
The daytime running light system has been discontinued on hatchback models for the U.S.A.

Yeah I am torn with this decision really. I like the safety aspect of having the lights on during the day because I have almost been ran off of the road 4 times since having this car for 5 weeks now. But I don't like to have the lights on all the time, I prefer to use the parking lights during the day. Parking lights on and being able to maneuver quickly in this car as well as my 'STIG"like driving ability has kept me out of a few accidents so far.

Bummer . The '09 5 door we're trading in has D.R.L. . That came with ALL WEATHER GUARD . Bummer not on 2010 . Helps get a small discount on insurance . At least the life of the bulbs should be little longer . Not so easy to replace one in the liftback . The sedan is a breeze to exchange the bulbs . Thanks for input .

lol, i always drive with lights on no matter the time but i am very afraid of driving, seeing light being emmitted and when it does get dark not turning on my actual lights to activate my backlights (DRL does not illuminate rear lights) also i have the RS (canadian) S (USA) yaris so i have fog lights, love them to be on.... DRL do not turn them on.

last point, i'm a teen, i chill in parking lots with car running cuz its fucking cold now in the winter, i dont want to park, turn car off, pull hand break up one click, turn car on and go from there....

I agree DRL is definatly better then no lights, but if i'm gonna have my lights on all the time anyways....DRL is pointless and slows me down for when i dont want any lights at all.

not necessarily for thebarber, but more for everybody... You might want to leave your DRL module plugged, and cut the biggest blue wire from the harness.

What i did was open up the module and cut the lead to the wire.

A bit of mod is needed for having the fogs as DRL.

That's correct - You can either leave the module in and cut the blue wire (capping off both sides) or you can pull the module and jump the orange (beige on 09+) wire to the white wire with the black stripe. Both methods make the DRLs stay off and allow the OEM fogs to work.

I have seen many Yaris without the full lights on at night because they think they're on since they have the day times.

Pay attention!

Good point - With the RS you have factory fogs, which won't work now that you removed the DRL module.

You have to ground the beige (on 09+ and orange on 06-08) wire on the DRL connector. You can jump it to the white with a black stripe wire to do it right on the connector.

lmao, okay, so i pulled it out this afternoon at 4:50pm, i posted around 4:59....but by 5:01 i had realized it disabled my fogs also...very gay, and by 5:06 the relay was back in :) its alot easier to plug in then unplug..... lol.

but for me to ground the beige wire i have to take out my radio for sure.... not enough room from steerwheel area to access it and work.

DNW barber....it will be out by the weekend. lol
