A/C Vent Noise
When my A/C is on, it sounds like something is fluttering in the duct. It doesn't appear to be blocked or anything, but the sound is pretty consistent.
Common issue? |

Drop your passenger side glove box and see if something got sucked into the blower (which is right behind the glove box).

Thanks for the tip. I went ahead and pulled the glove box out, unfortunately I can't seem to find anything that might be causing the problem. It sounds like it's coming from the central vent, luckily I'm still under warranty. Looks like I'll be taking a trip to the dealership, unless you have any other suggestions?

Is it only when you press the A/C button or when you turn the fan speed up for any blower position? Does it happen in recirculate or open or both? How about parked vs local vs hwy?

It seems to be apparent only on speeds 3 and 4 which leads me to believe it is in fact something stuck in there. Airflow setting and where I'm driving don't seem to have much of an effect. |

You can quite easily (as in, without cutting your fingers) unscrew the bottom of the blower motor housing, and take a look the fan. I put some WD-40 in there, and it made no difference whatsoever to the sound from the motor itself.

FWIW, mine made a similar sound for a couple of days... and then just when I was starting to get annoyed and about to take it in, it went away by itself. That was a few months ago. I've had similar situations in other cars too, where it seems like the cause of the sound gets "worked through" and then is gone.

I had the same issue until about a minute ago. I just pulled down the glove box and found a pine needle in my blower fan. Problem solved.

Found it! A thin piece of plastic from a cigarette pack wrapper was the culprit! I'm SO glad I don't have to go to the dealership. I probably would have been made fun of mercilessly, not only by the mechanics but by my boyfriend as well. Thanks to everyone for their help!

the air does get sucked from the air by the feet of the passenger side... that's probably why it was able to get stuck on the fan there.. hehe
