Question - Toyota Yaris Forums

I purchased my 07 Yaris HB in June of 2006 shortly after I got hired by Toyota to build the Tundra in San Antonio. I could not pass up employee pricing!!!!!

I did nothing besides normal maintenance and the usual work required to keep the car in good shape. Everything changed in Feb 2010, my nephew has a second hand Honda Accord 99 or 2000 model. Like most kids his age he put a cold air intake on it and a muffler with an exhaust diameter big enough to put your head in. Oh by the way it still needs an oil change and the state inspection sticker is out of date, but that is another topic. He was talking up the usual horse power gains increased torque BLA BLA BLA. Spent a weekend under a car and he thinks he is Mario Andretti. So that is what set me in motion. Since then my upgrades are as follows, TRD rear sway bar, shocks struts and springs, TRD cold air intake, cat back exhaust and short shift kit, Fog lights interior LED's and several other bits and pieces. My question is this, if you did not purchase your ride with the intension of upgrading or customizing it and have done so, what got it all started?

lol, for me it was how fun the car was right off the lot....and this fourm and all the ppl with such good idea's! lol

so far i only have interior LED's and speakers waiting to get installed, but i'm hoping my summer budget works out in favour for the yaris. lots of mods planned.....well a few at least, lol.

When I purchased my yaris back in 08, I was debating whether to get a honda fit or yaris. But then, turns out that there are so many fits in my neighborhood and I kinda felt it was too played out in terms of modding one.

I am not a big fan of hatchbacks (or liftback..lol) personally, so I went with sedan.
Definitely not many sedans that are modded, both in my neighborhood and in general, so I am pretty happy how the purchase and the modding turned out.

I like the clean look of my car and that's mostly the compliment that I receive from other people (oh well, that's pretty much the only thing I can get compliments out of this car lol, it's neither fast nor flashy sports car after all.)

But all in all, I am happy. On a side note, the sway bar is the most bang for buck investment among all other mods. I knew that from my previous 04 civic which made a huge difference from going 12mm stockies to 23mm jdm type r one. Let alone putting a 23mm one on a yaris which does not have one as a stock to begin with.

I have an 07 yaris and I love modding any car. Its something good to make you feel good or pissed when it doesn't work. A lot of times it keeps my mind off things I don't want to think about. Also, its fun having a beer and working on cars with your friends. So, far on my yaris, I only have an in-dash dvd player, subs, and exhaust. I still want to install crank pulley, cai, whatever i can get my hands on. This site is by far the most useful website than i've use, plus to see what people can do with the yaris is crazy and i enjoy people that have the same interest( modding yaris) as me.
