Is there a top mount manifold?
Has anyone has ever seen one before? I've seen it on a couple of scions, I don't know about the yaris if any turbo would fit up vs. the down position. Is it a clearance issue, or it is just not a manufactured manifold.
Just wondering, not looking to make one, i feel it would be easier to position everything with the piping this way. Thanks |

I'd be surprised if we ever saw one tbh. Clearance would definitely be an issue, and there's no way you could retain the AC lines.
I also disagree on it making the piping easier. I think the only situation where the piping would be easier with a top mount is if you were using a top mount intercooler or no intercooler at all. |

I was actually planning on the top mount, her hood is messed up as it is, front end needs to be redone, so cutting a hole and painting it would be alright. shorter piping, less pressure drop.
I found a turbo already, I may just go and grab a mani from Garm while hes pricematching.. Seems like the best bet i beleive if there is no top mount. I was just looking at previous builds and saw how a couple were top mount but i beleive those were all custom made manis. |

Yes its possible & no the A/C lines would not have to be touched. When I started designing my kit I started with a top mount. I changed it to bottom mount because the downpipe on the top mount is more difficult to make that the bottom mount.

This XB kit was 4 sale on e-BAY. I was originally thinking about it 4 my car. Then I opened my hood and saw the A/C line location and I was not ready to give up A/C. Also I dont now how high the turbo would stick up above the valve cover. The windsheild wiper tray is only a few inches above the motor. The XB has more room. Also I have not seen anyone going top mount with the newer us/canadian Yaris. You could be the first

LOL im not looking to make any ground breaking discoveries, I have two K03 turbos left over which should be perfect, just the fact of getting a manifold and hacking it up hurts me, seems like a waste of $250 if im going to cut the old flange off and put a new one on, might as well rig up my own if Garm or someone sells just the manifold flange.
I lost the bid on a GT25 the other day, I want something quick and easy to install. Obviously im going to install the engine management unit first, test that out without complications so I know I can mess with it once everything else is installed as well. |
