gas mileage

My dealership seems to be boasting that the Yaris will get 41 mpg and the Prius 51 mpg, to boost sales.

Aren't these figures the maximum mpg under perfect conditions?

What mpg should the average driver expect? I am only getting about 36 mpg so far and I have had the car since the end of May.

I average 35 MPG with my Yaris. I used to own a Prius and I averaged 48 MPG.

The new Hyundai Elantra is rated 29/40. No lie. Toyota needs to get off their butt. The yaris should get better than the Elantra. I've had dealers quote the little numbers also. That's dishonest as we know the numbers they are to be using. (The big ones )

Last tank 36 mpg winter driving conditions. Been over 40 mpg a few times in the summer.

The actual car and driver average turned out to be 26 mpg of mixed driving.

40 is a huge overstatement. That heavy car with 1.8 will not be getting 40 unless it's rolling down hill.

Are you sure that it was a 2011 Elantra? I think it's all new.
