Need help deciding what to do with my Yaris.
Hi, it has been a long time since I've been on yarisworld, so for those of you who don't know me you can easily look up my old threads/posts. I was thinking about selling my Yaris but I'm not sure if I should and how I would. I haven't driven it for some time now, and rather than let it collect dust I would like to see someone enjoy it.
I have a good amount of modifications like the prototype Blitz supercharger and a great sound system, all of which can be seen in the garage section. The problem is I don't know if/how to sell it. I can strip the aftermarket parts off and sell them individually, but it would take a lot of effort and take a long time. Or I can sell it as is but I might get a lot less than it's worth. So my question to all of you... Does anyone think I could sell the car in this market, and if I do sell the car should I sell it as is, or should I sell the parts and restore it to normal? Thanks for any input. Edit: Info about it: 2007 Yaris Sedan, Polar white. About 20,000 miles. Blitz Supercharger 17" Rims. Lowering springs. Strut tower bar JL Audio ZR's and TR's JL Audio 10" subs (2) JL Audio amps, 450/4 and 500/1 Fujita CAI Motor Mount And a hadfull of others like window tint, TRD caps, Door sill plates ect.

I think you'll get a lot more for it if you take the time to remove the extras and sell them off.
I'd start a FS thread with stuff you are willing to take off and remove them as they're sold. That way you won't have parts lying around. |

That's what I was thinking. The problem is the audio stuff is built for the Yaris. The fiberglass work is all spec'd to fit the car. Also the whole car is dynamatted so I don't think I can take the audio stuff out. It may be best for me to sell the car with the audio work but remove the performance stuff.

Don't sell it. if you do sell it I say first try to sell it as it stands to gauge what you are getting for a response and go from there.

Personally I'd try to sell it all as one unit. While you may get more money out of it by individually parting out the upgrades, as you said, some of the things like audio and whatnot will be pretty rough after being removed. Taking some of the stuff out will probably hurt the amount that you'd get for the car if there's holes left and such things.

I would gauge interest here as a complete unit. You won't get nearly what you paid for the aftermarket adds new anyway, and I think you would be better off keeping it whole. Plus, you won't have to dismantle it and sell of the individual parts. I'd at least post it here and see what the interest here is. I know if I were currently looking I'd be very interested in a low mileage Yaris that was pre-modded with nice goodies like yours is! I would think the Yaris is only going to get more desirable here right off. Given the situation in Japan and the look of the Yaris coming in 2012 I think the used Yaris market is looking pretty good! So, why is the yaris just sitting around? It looks like a very nice car.
If it were mine, I'd be keeping the Yaris as is. |

Thanks for the input. As for why I'm selling, I have a 2005 Pontiac GTO that I drive most days. I have an 09 Mustang for my girl to drive, an 09 Nissan Rouge for bad weather and a 64 Pontiac GTO to work on too. So there is little reason for me to drive the Yaris.
I'd rather sell the car as a whole, I just don't expect to get enough for it. I figure the car itself should be somewhere in the 10k range. I have no idea what I could sell the other stuff for. Maybe 2k for the supercharger, 5-600 for the wheels, 1.5-3k for all the audio. If I could get 15k for the whole thing I might take it considering I spent around 25k for everything. I just hate selling cars when I've worked on them so much. I just don't really expect anyone to have that much for a pre-modded Yaris in this economy. What price do all of you think I could get for it as a whole? Again, there is a complete list of mods in the garage section. I have extras too, like Toyota aftermarket rims (the five point ones) five of them, extra wheel-well linings, all the original parts I took off, a few plastic engine covers ( I think three total, 2 cut for the supercharger and one untouched.) I have a blue underdrive pulley and maybe some other things.

Gas prices will rise. You sure you don't want to keep it into 2013?

Gas prices? :p It only costs me an extra $700 or so each year to drive my 17mpg GTO in place of my 35-40mpg Yaris. That's also around the same amount of interest most people pay for one year of financing on a Yaris. So if you're financing your Yaris you will be paying that same $700 I'm spending on gas. That $700 also buys me a seat I fit in, looks and compliments from almost everyone I drive past, a 0-60 of under 4 sec and a top speed I haven't yet reached because the fastest I've been able to go as of yet is only 153mph
. Plus the Rouge is in-between the two for mpg so if it would bother me I could just drive that. :)

Perhaps it will be easier to sell if gas goes to $5++ |

That's true. Since the supercharger is clutched it can be turned off which saves fuel. I think I was getting around 40mpg without it and 35mpg with it on.
BTW :p at your sig.
