just bought 2011 yaris 2 door stick

just bought her last saturday, love it...277 whole miles on her..anything i should look out for, never owned a toyota b4..too bad about the idiot light for temp guage, that should be a needle and a gimme' , seeing the qwality of this lil vehicle..im surprized at the fit and finish, although the materials of the dash/doors-- look like they are scratched easily. mechanic at dealership said no ''break in'' trial for motor..i call bull, wont ''horse'' her till around 2k for my tastes..any info would be appreciated..switching to synthetic Mobile one as soon as 2k rolls around..there is an annoying hump next to the outer left side of my clutch foot, no dead pedal..hmm , i love this car, buying the ol lady one next..thanks guys.

Welcome and I hope you enjoy your new car. Read the owners manual, it contains alot of info that new owners end up coming here to get answers for. When here utilize the "search" feature to get your answers or just plain browse the topics. Also check out the garage for some great vehicle descriptions and pics. Enjoy.

Welcome to the family.

They are great little cars. The only maintenace item that you need to be religious about is oil changes. If you neglect that, you can get sludge deposits and have problems with the VVT valve not working.

I had a 2001 Echo (same motor) that went 318,000 miles with little effort (it was totalled in a crash). In my opinion, the Mobil one is a waste of money. My car did great on castrol GTX and fram oil filters from wal-mart.

The only annoying thing I've dealt with is short lived water pumps.
