MICHELIN X-Ice 2 or BLIZZAK WS 60s ?

Which one should we get ? Driveway is sloped and can be nasty when it gets icey . Which is best for ice traction and stopping ?

x-ice, theyre really soft even at/below freezing

Ha was on the fence with the same - Well the X-Ice Xi2 or the Blizzak WS70's - settled on the Blizzaks. Reviews for me seemed that they were a little noisier and not quite as long lasting, but better grip. I think between the two is makes very little difference, what ever the best price you can get would be the determining factor.

if you are in a place like New England where when it snows the roads are covered for 3-10 days but mostly cleared the rest of the time, Michelin handles dry winter roads better and won't wear out as fast as a Blizzak

if you are more often on packed snow, or always on snow, or in Canada... Blizzaks

Michelin will last longer and handle dry better, and still do excellent on snow and ice, but
is best overall when you hit the highway in-between snow storms.

Blizzaks also do better at resisting hydroplaning they have more circumferential grooves than the X ice. but hey, either one is an excellent tire. Michelin will certainly last about double the lifetime of the Blizzak.

so what do you want out of a tire.

ultimate packed snow grip regardless of how fast it wears out and resistance to hydroplaning and it also noisy?

or excellent snow and ice grip but lasts longer over time and it quieter on highway, and has the longest winter tire warranty of any of them ? I have done a load of research and tire store visits this year and got x-ice vs any other.

you also see more Michelin shod econoboxes at european ski resort parking lots than any other brand,
and it is not just because they are French. It is Michelin makes the best tires, period. they just work,
and stay round and are well balanced out of the gate.

Great Summary.

For me, the tires are going on my 2010, which my 18y/o son (his first winter) and my 16y/o daughter who is just getting her G1 will be driving. My priority was best grip on Snow, Ice and Wet Roads and that is why I chose the Blizzaks. If it was only me and my wife driving the Car I would have gone Michelins.

Dingo and Barber thanks for the input . We live in the N.E.. Setting up to be another nasty winter . Likely to go with the X-Ice . Can't go wrong for the price and 40,000 mile warranty .

I have 4 Blizzak WS-60 Winter Tires mounted on orig equipment Yaris steel 15" wheels for sale. These wheels and tires are used only a couple of thousand miles - I then moved from MA to SC. There is no need for them here. They are like new. The problem is I do not want to have to ship them. It would cost too much for what I would get for the wheels/tires. If anyone is interested in these PERFECT winter tires and Yaris wheels, please respond. I am asking $250.00. A good deal.

dude that set is worth 600 bucks as it stands (if new tires and new steelies)

shipping ups ground would be 70-90 bucks to anywhere

so even with shipping, 250 +shipping is a great deal.

that means essentially 4 tires for the price of 3 and change

i just remembered, i have blizzaks on the aveo and they are an awesome tire. i like them better than the x-ice's i had on my matrix
