I don't think that there will be any takers.

You'd have to pry our manual transmission out of our cold dead hands.

you can easily find a tranny at LKQ for around 400.. They have a deal going on right now also with engine and trans. call them up.. I plan to get one next year and try to do the xb final drive and lsd in it and use my current tranny for a back up

Finding a manual transmission won't be that tough. Installing it will be: clutch pedal, linkages, mounting brackets, clutch, flywheel, switches, etc. I've seen a few posts on here from time to time with the same question, and the answer always seems to be "don't do it unless you know how, and/or your warranty has expired."

I'm also assuming that the OP wants to swap with another car to save money. All of the associated bits and pieces won't be cheap if you can't pull them from a junker yourself. And then on top of it all, it's a used/crashed gearbox, with little or no warranty.

So the bottom line (at least for me) is that if you have to pull the trans for something major, then go ahead and swap it. Otherwise, you're almost better off looking for a used car and selling/trading yours for it.

Exactly, I've done an auto-to-manual transmission swap on a car once when I was younger and dumber, and it's no easy task!

Of course, now that I am smarter, I prefer the auto!

Well, there goes one goal post... I would rather have a Miata as well, but by the time I can afford it, I won't be able to get into one anymore.

Not sure why you had to settle for an auto. When we bought our Yaris, I went into the dealership and ordered what I wanted, trans, colour, accessories, everything, and got EXACTLY what I ordered. There was no BS from the dealer about what was available or possible. I waited 2 months for the car, and it was delivered right on time from the other side of the country.

Also, I didn't realise that there was any trans options other than auto and 5-speed...

TLyttle is right, BUT, he probably didnt want to wait. most people just look at whats on the lot assume this is all thats available. When I went to buy my yaris, I saw it in the paper as a used 07 blue LB. But they showed me this black one that had power windows, and then I was sold.. I figured I will repaint one day and be able to leave the engine bay black.

Pffft! Your PARENTS bought the car?? My parents SOLD me my first car, 25% of the hp that the Yaris, 18" narrower, 55mph tops, and mechanical brakes. The only thing slower on the road was the painted lines...

Count your blessings, kid.
