little black arm/hinge on door??

ok, funny question, does anyone know what the official name of that part is? its the little black plastic arm on the back doors that functions like a sliding hinge, guess prevents door from opening all the way or something

strange thing is that yesterday I tried to open one of the back doors and it just stopped half way, it was greased and stuff, now it seems like its grinding on something opening and closing, how does this thing work? it slides inside the door, is it a simple thing or does it have bearings? etc

thanks

Before you spend any $ on it, try this:

Open the door all the way open. Might have to again use little pressure to open it all the way. Put some light oil (wd40) or the like on the bar portion of the stop check mech. Be sure to do the upper AND lower part of it. Close the door and open all the way repeatedly and most likely the movement will become easier. It sometimes gets "tight" when the mechanism does not travel over a spot often enough. (partially opening the dor all the time, vs opening the door all the way). I'll bet you "fix" the problem without lifitng a tool!

Good Luck!
