Write-off or fixable?

We hurt our yaris really really bad. I'm just wondering if this is considered a write-off or would there be some insurance company penny pinching to get it restored like new?

write off, airbags deployed and the entire front end is caved in.. sorry , scrap the car and get a cheque from insurance, even if u fix it, its never the same after, and god forbid if u fixed it and got into another frontal accident you'd probably end up dead/alot worse then the first time. (structural integrity is null and void after any major accident)

I'd have to agree: that's definitely totaled.

Sorry for the loss and hope that you are okay.

Thanks! Very minor injuries with this one. I would not trust this car again.

I just bought out the car less than 2 months ago. Will insurance pay the price I juuust paid?

Btw - the transport truck that hit our car took off. 401E/Dixie collectors 9:30am Dec 16th in Mississauga. I'm not sure if the police found the driver.

Wow the best news is you werent hurt and another serious accident involving a Yaris/ECHO that protected its occupants.

Personally Im in favor of all cars being equiped with black boxes and video cameras that record front, rear, and both sides for half and hour then write over. That way everybody know everythings on video in the event of an accident. That would finger the guilty immediately with no nonsense protecting the innocent. I think it would also stop a lot of dangerous, careless driving because everyone knows they are being recorded.

As much as it hurts, I would cut my losses. Glad you are safe.

what they pay depends on your policy. i had mine so that they'd replace my car with a new car with the same features for the first 2 years...

Just out of curiosity, is this a typo? Did you mean that say that you would trust this car (i.e. a Yaris) again? Anyway, that must've been very frightening to get hit by a truck. Better that it's the car that gets totalled, and not your body.

ah a few bangs with a hammer, a bit of bondo, it'll be like new ;)

Seriously, glad to hear you are OK, like Hamster just wrote, better have your car crushed and mangled rather than your own body...

I meant to say I would not trust this particular car even if it was fixed. Would I buy another (new) Yaris? For Sure!

Oh, nothing like a little bondo and ALOT of sanding. Maybe some duct tape. I should have posted in the DIY or cosmetic modification section instead. lol

Thanks all for the kind comments. :)

Now on to dealing with the paperwork. Merry Christmas!
