Never buy a Ford (Fiesta)
In august '11 my boyfriend bought a Toyota Prius from '09. A great car, much more comfy than the old Yaris but there was a rattle in the dash.
The dealer said the Prius was more or less made for US standards and that the Prius has more rattles than other Toyota's so the problem couldn't be solved eventually.. Prius sold after a lot of 'repairs' without effect. My boyfriend wanted a new car instead. A Ford Fiesta it went. Stupid because we had a Escort and 2 times a Focus with ton loads of problems! The Fiesta is the worst car ever. It drives good i have to say but there was rattle in the engine the first day we have bought the car! They have changed the clutch plates (correct English?) and several other parts! It is a formiliar problem with different kind of engines. Soon Ford will have contact with a lawyer... |

funny to hear someone talk about this, i worked full time as a tow truck driver durring the summer and now part time since im back in school and my company has the contract with the local Ford dealership (and the toyota, chrysler, hyundai, kia, honda and nissan as we are the cheapest and oldest company in the area) and i cannot believe how many ford fiesta's we tow. common issue is the Auto transmission. cars with not even 5000km on them and the trannies have went. i towed one lady and she said her tranny already got replaced once. and she was still under 20,000km
2nd most towed cars are VW's for brake (either booster or MC) failures and turbos in the rabbits toyotas rarely ever get towed, but older corollas alternators do go. odd case had a 07 camry for a tranny issue also. was driven by a sales agent at the local toyota only Yaris i have ever towed (other then from an accident) were always due to people not understanding the fuel guage. just my $0.02

The Beautification of Car

i dont know about american cars, but with my experienced with honda, nissan, and now my yaris, i think toyota give me that worry free, and yes, i am worry free when i'm in my yaris.
My sister purchased a Kia Sorento about one month ago, and OMG, my yaris is 100K miles and the engine is still quiet and not as vibrated like that KIA.

@ Yaris2010RS
Here in Europe VW has a good reputation because of good marketing but in reality those are real problem cars. Ok the Fiësta drives great i have to say but it's made in Europe/ Germany and that's way overrated. There's a thought that German ''grundlichkeit'' exists but that was many decades ago. If u want a good quality car it has to come from Asia. Western people especially in Europe are lazy workers in comparisson of Asian workers. The work conditions of Asian factories are not always ''human'' though in our eyes but it has to be perfect. |

Interesting that VW's are considered "problem cars" in Europe as well. Here in the US, they are famous for having electrical problems. A friend of the family has a VW Golf, and at only 50,000 miles, it started having a lot of problems. For example, the car would be stopped at a red light, and the engine would just shut down, couldn't be restarted, and the car had be be towed. And I that happened several times. I just presumed it was because most, of not all, of the VW's sold in the US are made in Mexico. But it looks like VW have problems, no matter the country of manufacture.

We have a rent a car; exactly the same Fiesta. The sound is the same. My boyfriend doesn't want a Ford anymore. It's rubbish. Now he wants a VW Polo but i'm more afraid for that car than a Fiesta. Otherwise he wants a Renault Clio. I still have hope for the Yaris...

Accent is that a Rio? No Kia for us; horror stories all over.
Nice car, that's true. The problem is probably solved. A engineer from the German factory thinks it is ''false air'' wich is coming into the engine. I love my diesel Yaris more and more right now. After almost 100.000 miles it drives like in the beginning.. |

Yeah, I would never buy a Mexican-made car. Not that I have anything against our southern neighbor, but I just think that these American car companies should invest in building plants and creating jobs here in America.

Yeah, they used to do that, but no one here wants to work for $3/hr. Typical business attitude, lowest bidder gets the jobs, the craftsmen starve 'cuz big business doesn't recognise quality as a benefit. They also don't give a crap about the national economy either; as long as WallyWorld is making money, the world is running like it should.....

Now there's a new gearbox in it.
We had testdrives in a Renault Clio tce but it has ratlles on bad roads, a VW Polo wich the passenger didn't open because of a faillure and too expensive and a Yaris 1.3 cvt. The last one is the one we will buy when we get our money back :-) |
