aFe Intake?
Any one know how much the aFe Intake will increases horsepower & torque on my 2011 3 door yari?
http://shop.microimageonline.com/aFe...L-51-11302.htm I know I want to try to stay w/ TRD, but if putting on their product will void my warranty then I can not put it on. |

You'll get a few hp out of it.
I don't see how a TRD intake could void your warranty, it's "made" by Toyota. Is some dealer saying that?

I think he means that he wants the aFe (probably due to cost), but doesn't want to void his warranty, so would go TRD (right?).
TRD are just re-branded products by other companies. I think the CAI is a rebranded aFe anyways, but someone go ahead and correct me since I'm probably wrong :p

The warranty on the Yaris is so short anyway, why bother worrying about it...just stay caught up on the TSB's during your warranty period and go from there. I don't think that the hp increase is really noticeable from having mine. Just noticed much better breathing especially through the midrange rpm's.

a dealer cannot void a warranty because of any aftermarket part unless the failure can be shown to be a direct result of the aftermarket part.
There is so much case law on this that any dealer or anyone says anything else is flat out lying. Now you'd have to check your local law to see what you can and cannot modify. These rejects making these laws are doing everything they can to make us slaves.

i bought that afe short ram intake from garm and its probably my favorite mod ive done. I've had it on for about 5k miles and i havent had any problems. the install was super easy and it makes the car sound so much more awesome :). . and like said before you cant feel much of a difference in hp but the sound of it makes it seem like youre going faster hehe.
id say its definitely worth it. i also just took my car in for toyota care yesterday and i thought they might say something about it effecting my warranty but they didnt. so as long as you install it correctly you shouldnt run in to any problems that would void your warranty

I asked the service manager point-blank about after market parts voiding warranty, since I have the 200,000km one. He said that the only way mods could void a warranty is if, for instance, you had a CAI on and flooded your engine with it, or extreme mods like boring your cylinders. He said that intakes, exhausts, etc should have 0 effect on your warranty.

TRD states that if you drive on the highway with the TRD INTAKE on, the warranty is void. I don't get it either...
