Hey now!
I'm about to buy a yaris RS 2008-2010(STICK SHIFT) and I have a few questions ! 1-I am wondering what modification would help me get more HP with out swapping the engine. 2-Would a blow off valve work on it ? (The ''whip'' sound :D ) 3-I'm looking for some ideas for an exhaust that makes a great noise but only on high RPM. Nothing that would be too loud for long highway cruises. Any idea ? 4-How does those chips works ? What stage do you recommend and why? Thanks in advance for all the answers ! |

1-turbo, supercharger, higher compression pistons. the sky is the limit as long as you have the capital.
2-do you just care about the sound? put a turbo setup on it and take care of #1 and #2 3-I have heard magnaflow doesn't have the drone like some of the others do. 4-chips??? I assume you mean something like superchips or something like that. not sure any of that is available for our cars. you may want to peruse the interwebs a little and see what is actually available. there is a guy on here (a supporting vendor) that specializes in small car performance. he has his own website www.microimageonline.com you may want to check that out. there are probably others on here that could answer your questions better but at least this is a start. good luck on your quest. |

![]() Being a Yaris newbie, I don't know anything about any of the other issues, however, I'm presently running an easy to install bolt on axle back exhaust which I believe would meet the requirements you mentioned. You can see and hear it here: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39989 |

where are you from?
what are P flows? turbos are safe if you know what you are doing (I can't stress that enough). I have talked to quite a few people and I am not willing to put into it what it will take either. the time and effort aren't worth it for me at this point. that being said, forced induction will shorten the life of a stock engine. I would say that to help hp of an N/A engine (normally aspirated or non-boosted or not forced induced) would be intake, exhaust, mid-pipe, header, lighter pulleys. I think that is the quick list. there is also performance past the hp side of things. stiffer springs and also sway bars. |

1-I am wondering what modification would help me get more HP with out swapping the engine.
*** intake, exhaust, pulley, flywheel, header will get you 10-15 whp. *** supercharger (Blitz kit for example) will get you 25-40 whp. *** turbo kit (properly tuned, stock boost) will get you 80 whp. 2-Would a blow off valve work on it ? (The ''whip'' sound :D ) *** Only if you are boosted (supercharger or turbo) 3-I'm looking for some ideas for an exhaust that makes a great noise but only on high RPM. Nothing that would be too loud for long highway cruises. Any idea ? *** Tanabe Medalion Touring or Micro Image center exit 4-How does those chips works ? What stage do you recommend and why? They don't work at all. An aftermarket management computer, *with tuning*, will. See my article here: http://www.microimageonline.com/foru...act-or-Fiction

More annoying questions for you .. ![]() The intake, exhaust, pulley, flywheel and the header are only going to give me 15 HP or some of them are giving 15 hp ? Supercharger, is it like the turbo and shorten the life on a stock engine ? Is it very expensive and how does it works ? I'm going to go read that tunning atricle right now ! |

All together make 15 whp. Flywheel and pulley don't add actual hp, but they do free up power that you will feel when you drive.
supercharger is not known to shorten the life of the motor. Neither is a low-boost turbo option if installed and tuned properly. Blitz supercharger: $3800 includes fuel controller and is 100% bolt-on power Zage turbo kit: $1650 and does not include management, tuning, and a few small extras that are needed for a proper install.

Anything forced induction will shorten your engin life ... It also depends on how much boost you running .
I have the blitz supercharger, full header back exhaust, CAI intake and also the AEM fic piggy back with a full tuning ... And I'm making about 125 whp and 128 torque. If you're handy and even has a very minimal skill on working on cars, you should be able to install the supercharger yourself, but on turbo, you have to have a professionally tuned. On my supercharger install, I let my local shop to do it for me and Also do the AEM fic , tuning and dynos. So it's all up to you ... On supercharger is about $4k to begin with but minimal tuning or with turbo is about $1.5k to begin but more tuning needed . |

they do make these cheesy things on ebay to give you the sound though they probably work not so great...if you just want the sound. never tried it.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Tu...f7a7ba&vxp=mtr I am not endorsing those things (not at all) but for 10 bucks, why not. if they don't give you what you want, you only burned a 10 spot. the intake will be louder too if you change it. |

Question about the car itself now: Is there a year that is better than the others ? (Spending at most 12'000) Also, does it has to be RS to worth it ? I mean.. I love the fogs :D |

yea, those little whistles are cheesy but wasn't really sure what you were after.
I think the motor is all the same in all of them (at least they are in the USA) but yea, you can get different packages to get different things. if you happen upon a good deal on one without things like fog lights and what not, you can buy aftermarket ones. caliyaris was the supporting vendor I was talking about. he has his own online store. you should take a look at it. seems there is a large yaris community in canada. |

the combination of the header and intake will give you a sucking kind of noise that way too often tricks people into thinking that the car is turbo'd. I have only had the majority of my below mods on for about a month and because of the intake and the resonant noise in the header I have had several people ask me how much boost I am running.
![]() I put Cold Air Intake, header, axle back exhaust, Micro Image Light Weight Crank Pulley, and grounding kit (just put it on this past weekend) for around 1k and the difference is amazing. I'm considering taking the back seats out and any extras that I have no need for and see how much more fun Zippy will be. (i'm lowered 1.8inches and with 3 full sized male adult I bottom out and scrap my exhaust on less than perfect roads) but any way, 5k budget, intake, exhaust, header, flywheel, pulley, and remove excess weight like the rear seats and maybe anything under the hatch except the spare tire, car jack(under driver's seat), the lug wrench, and jack arm. if you want handling improvements sway bars, strut tower bars, lowering springs or full coil overs. (front sway bar is best to be put on at a shop all others can easily be done your self) If manual short throw shift kits(yes with an s because there are 2 that combine, under hood typically called the TRD style, but dont get actually TRD because it cost too much, get the Micro Image kit instead because it is the same thing only better and pick out an in car short throw you like(hopefully Cali Yaris will get some more in soon )

Also, I would be paying a garage to put the new stuff on the car, I'm horrible with tools and stuff. I'm too scared to fuck things up if I do it myself |

The exhaust is two bolts. I don't think you even have to jack up the car to do it.

jacking the car up helps to wiggle it out but isn't needed. :D
