Sedan owners - anyone install the S lip?

Anyone install this lip? How did it go? It seems straightforward, just a couple tabs on either side, and a few holes underneath where the lip attaches to the bumper.....but then there's these weird tabs that stick out from the lip and don't attach to anything.

I have instructions, but they're all in Japanese....

Based on my experience with OEM lips on the HB, those 'weird tabs' would slip into slots that are cut in the OEM bumper facia, which do not exist on your car.

There may be markings on the back side of the bumper facia which indicates where the slots need to be made.

But the illustrations show that I guess I need to drill into my bumper.....

Put my thinking cap on, and it shows that I need to drill holes in the bumper, then pull the tabs through the other side.

Nice when did you get that?

For the s lip on sedan you dont need to cut the bumper if you don't want. The tabs on the bottom as well you will see do not line up exactly to the stock mount points on your sedan.

To protect resale and make the job a whole ton easier I would just drill through the lip and make my own mounts and just secure with some screws underneath.

Because ours came as Base and not S all of those cutouts and mounts were ignored I found this out when I tried mounting mine.

Mine actually is an S model, whoever fixed the car cheaped out and made some pretty ignorant shortcuts to save a few bucks. Part of me wants to cut the tabs out and double sided tape it, another part of me wants to let my bodyman figure it out; he'll be fixing it up anyways.

O true then your bottom mounts might have been messed up too. I would just shave the tabs and secure the lip via screws in the bottom it would be fast and easy and if you ever take the lip off there are no holes.

Your call

I mean, it should be fine just by the bottom, right? The holes in the wheel wells are there, as are the ones on the bottom. Just the ones in the bumper aren't there.

Yeah absolutely the bottom/side mountings will be more than strong enough to hold the lip on.

I can tell you that the S package causes major headaches if/when you want to remove it. From what I can tell it is a major eff around to remove it without damaging it and making it usable again anyway. At least for someone with little patience.

That's why I advise him against cutting bumpers and such. Screwing through bottom should make it just as simple to remove.

I will likely cut the tabs, I'll show my bodyman soon and see what he thinks.
