Temps on the low, what issues have you noticed?

Temps are quite low today.. Woke up this morning with -21C, and my thermometer shows a low of -25 over the night. Imagine how cold it was this morning with windchill.

Anyways, anyone notice any issues with your car?

my 07 (bought in Oct 06) started just fine after being parked 5days with the original battery. Just hit 137000km today.

Clutch pedal is very hard when cold as usual. But i also noticed the electric power steering also made funny noises when i started up this morning.

it was -19 C here a couple mornings ago. no issues, other than allowing a little longer warm up.

The coldest temp I experimented yet with my yaris is -31 C, a few days ago, but the car sleeps in a Tempo temporary garage shelter, no block heater. It started well using the auto start feature: turn key past šonš a fraction of a second and leave the key, it continues to run starter until the engine catches. When really cold, I hear what looks like valvetrain clatter and a rattle noise coming from somewhere in the dash. Those noises stop when everything warmed up. Motor oil is Mobil 1 5w30 full synthetic. As all auto trans Yaris, there is no way to get 4th gear till the engine is cold.

I have an issue with the cold engine light not turning off.

My girlfriend has a 2000 Toyota Echo w/ 150,000 miles on it. Last night it was around 30 degrees and we sat in the car for a few minutes to let it warm up and then started driving to our destination thinking it would finish warming up and the light would turn off on the way like it always does. Well it didn't...

The cold engine light stayed on the entire 20 minute/15 mile drive to our destination. It was only after we got there and turned the car off, and then back on that the light finally turned off right away. It happened again tonight to my girlfriend on her way to work.

Any ideas if this is could be a bigger problem? We're in CA so it doesn't get very cold where we are, lowest it probably gets is around 15-20 degrees, but never has the cold engine light stayed on for a significant amount of time.

My 08 Yaris starts just fine at -25, my 05 Echo needs a new battery as at -25 it was touch and go as to whether it was going to start this weekend.

I'm still wondering if it is normal that my MK5 jetta 2.5L cranks slow when cold.
It still starts in a couple secs.. eitherway, the hood is frozen shut. So i quickly moved a few things around in the garage and parked it in this morning and drove the yaris to work.

We were at -23C in my area of Reno, Nevada two weeks ago. My car was parked in the garage, when I turned it on my intake temp was 0C, when I drove the 16km to work (11km highway) and parked my car I ended at -12C for my intake temperature.

The only problem I've been consistently having is the squealing of the serpentine belt upon start up only. It was replaced 2 years ago.

Other than that.. I was too busy enjoying the crunch of snow beneath my tires to notice any other driving differences.

it's -22c this morning without windchill. There's not much wind this morning.. the blower fan on my Yaris made squeaking noise until the cabin was warmed up.

The OEM stereo head display, fades out. example if I turn up the volume the display fades out you can't see the numbers. Everything works, but the LCD gets cold.

Windchill doesnt affect metal, its just a 'feels like' designation for humanoids.

Just put a bit more tension on it by adjusting the angle of the alternator.
