Can anyone tell me what is this for ?
Hello all. Happy new year.
My Vitz is an import from Japan. As a result it has somethings in it that are specifically required for Japan. One of them being the ERP (Electronic Road Pricing) When I got the car the ERP card reader had already been removed but the antenna still left which I am in the process of removing. When I was removing the wiring, I came accross some other wiring at the fusebox that does not look stock. Can any one tell me what it could be for? In the pictures I've highlighted the wiring and splicing that seems to be not original. |

That definitely looks like an add on harness. It would be hard to tell what it is for unless you follow it to its ends.

Guess what, turns out those wires are for the LED turn signals on the mirrors. Funny that. I am pretty sure this is factory fitted for the RS models yet it looks like its an aftermarket add on. The fuse connector definitely is. Its an inline cylindrical fuse. I found one on both driver and passenger side kick panels
They are connected to the harness that goes to the door and thus the mirrors. Interesting. |
