Amp w/ USB and remote: which one? best way to wire
Hey guys. I'm not very knowledgeable about car audio so if you can help that would be great.
I'd like to have to ability to play music from a USB flash-drive but I don't want an aftermarket head unit, nor any clutter of aux wires. I see you can get small amps that have USB input, and a remote. I would like to hide one somewhere, and use the remote to control during normal use. Things I need: -12v power input -USB input -remote (volume, skip, ability to shuffle) -no draw with key off (I've removed too many crappy amps from peoples cars because of draws) Stock Yaris stereo sounds fine to me so I don't need great audio, and don't listen to it loud so probably don't have to worry much about distortion. Questions: -Do these remotes typically need line-of-sight to function? -What is the best way to tie into stock speakers or system? Just cut/splice speaker wires? I can take apart the HU and solder into the AUX input from behind as well if that is viable (would that work? amp output to AUX input of headunit). Car is a 2009 and it does have AUX input on front. Thanks for any help. Cory |

Which HU supports USB? If so, yes. I want it ;)
I was under the impression that the AUX adapter was only AUX and Ipod. |

If your 2009 supports iPod, then you could also use the USB port for other usb devices.
Otherwise, a scion HU will fit directly in place of your current one. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=321580922675 I forgot to ask... Do you have the integrated radio of a 2 double din? |

I've the double DIN.
So how exactly does one connect a USB to this head unit? I thought you only could get the ipod or aux adapter for it. Thanks. |

For what u want i think ur better of getting a new deck that is if u want usb too..one can get one for around 80$ plus wire kit 12$ and mounting kit 20 to 40$ and about 1 hr for install on ur own.
Yes u could find that is if ur deck supports usb and get the wire kit from toyota plus usb aux at a point of spending just as much as aftermarket ...just my 2 cents on this its how i did it and also added a sub. |

I really don't like the look, or feel of aftermarket decks. And it makes break-ins much more likely. The little amps can be had for $20-60 (although I have no idea which ones are good) and would be hidden. If I can't get USB on my stock headunit, it makes sense to me.
Cheers. |

If your HU supports it. I saw on eBay many toyota options to add usb/sd card and is controlled from the OEM HU like a cd changer.

OK. I didn't know they were making USB adapters now. That would be better if viable. Can anyone tell me what model of headunit I have?
I found this unit which if it works, would be great: http://www.amazon.com/Moonet-Interfa...=1416972113870 "Fits Toyota OEM radios by Panasonic:16852,12821,13803,17006,17828,50323,5381 6,53818,58814,58816,58827,P3914,P3916,P7809,A56828 ,W53901 ,W53903,W53905, W58810, W58814,W58831" Thanks. |
