205/50-15 Fitment Question
Hello, I am new to this forum and Yaris in general and I have a chance to get a set of Miata 5 spoke 15x6 wheels that have an offset of 40 and are wrapped with 205/50-15 rubber. I have looked at the stickied "Official YARIS Wheel & Tire Guide thread" and it says for an ET40 wheel you should normally max out at 195 wide.
But what I am wondering is if anyone has ran 205/50-15s on a Yaris hatch with stock suspension? What was your offset, will ET40 work? Any rubs; Big or Small? I plan on lowering the car in the near future and want to know if if they would pose an issue now and if I go to drop my car? or should I just put 195s on the rims and call it good? Thanks for ya'lls input; I am used to muscle cars and jeeps with large wheelwells that I can easily make larger with a roller, hammer or cut off. |

My feedback:
I ran coilovers 4k front springs and 3.1k rears, 1 1/2 inch lowered all around,15x6.5 38ET rims with 205/50R15. Street driving I did just fine, not a single rub, even when at full passenger capacity. Didn't care to try that on the track, though. You can see how much clearance I had in my coilovers install thread. If you aren't lowered, I don't think you'll run into any fender or other interference problems, at all. Edit: right, you plan on lowering. Well, it's case by case, but you should be fine, as long as your dampers match up. I wouldn't run lowering springs on the stock shocks. Last edited by sheekeebut; 04-02-2015 at 06:41 PM. |

Thanks for the response, I was hoping they would work out. Now I will need to start researching suspension setup and coilovers for the yaris; this stuff is addicting and I already have two other money pits.
One Question though, do the sedans have larger wheelwells than the hatchbacks because I have notice the same wheel and tire size combo seems to look smaller on the sedans? or is it just an illusion caused by the bigger car? |
