How to hold down the hatch door when cargo is loaded

I have a 2008 2dr yaris hatchback. I have to load cargo that is too long to fit in the hatch with the rear seat folded down. I there a good method of snuggly holding the hatch down on the cargo? I have both bunny cord and ratchet straps.

Thanks!

With a screwdriver or your key, close the latching mechanism on the hatch lock. This then creates a secure hook which you can loop your rope or bungee cord through.

push something through the latching mechanism on the hatch to close it. Then loop the rope through it and tie it down to the latching ring on the car where the hatch would close.

You can just USE the bungee cord to close the latch. Just push it into the open slot.

^ yes, but if using a pliable rope for your tie down, you need to show a means to close with something solid.
