Yaris or Nissan Versa note

Thinking about trading my 2012 LE for a new versa note. Is this a bad idea.

Here's a comparison between the 2:

They're pretty evenly matched, so I think it really boils down to what you're planning on using the car for.

Still, not sure about the Versa's reliability...

What is it about your current 2012 LE that makes you want to side/down-grade to a Versa Note? Mileage? Out of Warranty?

Nissan has somewhat spotty quality, and is ranked below Honda, and well below Toyota for overall reliability. Unless you really love the looks, feel, or performance of the Versa Note, I would stick with a 2015/2016 Yaris (or the fugly new Honda Fit) if you wanted to buy a new car in the "commuter subcompact" class. Plus, the 2015/2016 Yaris models are better refined than the 2012-2014, in terms of noise reduction, body rigidity, suspension/ride, etc. - and will be the last "True Toyota Yaris", before Mazda creates a totally different car for Toyota under that name in 2017. That's my 2 cents.

Not even a comparison. The Yaris, specifically the new ones are much nicer inside. And the quality between the two is night and day different. I don't trust the current Nissans. They've had a lot of problems for the past decade.

We had two nissans few years back, not going for a third one. Both transmissions have had some problems.

Bad idea! Nissan lacks Toyota's quality and long-term reliability. Do your research. Spend your hard earned money wisely.

Reason for trading ,was rear ended, did $5500 in damage, get it back in a couple days, and although there was no structial damage I doubt it will be the same . Only had 20k on it and never a problem.

I felt the same way after I tapped the back of an Expedition being driven by a newly minted 16 y.o. driver early last October. Given that my blue Yaris had well over 290,000 miles on it at the time, It was much easier to make the decision to pull/limit the useful life.
