Well one reason is what if you have a heavy object on the pass front seat and it's setting off the seat belt chime. And you'd rather have the chime to be off so you don't have to "buckle" up the object that's not a person

Pull the seat belt behind the seat and latch it. Or go to the auto wreckers and cut off a buckle from a used car and use it that. The solutions are pretty simple.

As joking as you may think this is it only take about 80lbs to have the seat belt chime when the buckle is unconnected.

And if one has to have something that heavy on the front seat makes it for an unsafe way of transporting stuff...trunk is a better place.
But honestly if u really need it off take it to Toyota it will take less than 10 min with techstream, it can be easily switched off.. I have done it in my Yaris for when I drive through drive thru and need to remove belt to get to my wallet.

So go visit ur nearest Toyota dealership
