Toyota Sales for August down

Here is an article of overall Toyota sales down. Lexus is doing good...but I was surprised to see the Yaris down for the month. With gas prices I'm surprised.
What do you guys think?

P.S. I hope this is in the right section.

The million dollar question is did all car sales go down in August or just Toyota? Its all relative.

I'd say low inventories and the '08s just around the corner.

Yep - who wants to buy a 2007 model when the 2008 models will be here any day?

Found this link with a quick google.Makes a good reference against GM.
One the whole, still not a bad effort globally.

"Toyota outsold GM for the first six months of this year, with worldwide sales totaling 4.72 million vehicles compared with the 4.67 million sold by General Motors in the same period."

http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/20070...obal-sales.htm

Enjoy.

Oh... and this for the Ford fanatics. I'm seeing a trend here...
Toyota 's 2.8 percent sales drop, Ford's 14.4 percent decline and Chrysler's 6.1 percent

Could be too all that BS that Forbes and Consumer Reports is spitting out about how the Yaris is one of the most dangerous vehicles of 2007....just a thought.

The reason why there may be lower sales in August is because of the high demands on the Yaris. Toyota can't make them soon enough, especially the sedans. Yaris hatchback is one of the most popular car sold on the Toyota line.

And this is the other.. Well here in Oz it is anyhow. The new Corolla hatch is killing the market... including the yaris.

Sales were down for everyone as a whole. Part of it had to do with the 08s coming out soon, but here at our toyota store, we still did better for last month than we did this same time last year. Not only can we not keep the Yaris on the lot, but we cant hold onto the Prius either.

Seems that they'd bolster their sales by making more Yaris'. I just got back from the second dealer that said that they didn't even know if they could custom order them since their allotment would be off the lot as quick as it got there.

These numbers do not mean a lot. Toyota fudged their overall numbers the year before to prevent becoming the number 1 car company overall, because it wasn't in their plans to be number 1 that year.

I heard Honda's sales were up for August.

One of the bigger reasons is the housing/mortgage market. People right now are putting off big ticket items, and that is hurting all the car companies - cause cars are big ticket items.

It looks like sales of everything will drop off this year. Which I'm hoping by next year at this time that toyota will lower their prices or have super great deals. In which I'll buy a new car. Probably another yaris. Great car.

As mentioned before its more than likely cause Toyota can't keep up with Yaris demand. Also the earthquake in Japan a little a while ago affected some or one factory so they had to close it down. So Yarii sales are strong just Toyota is having a hard time meeting them. Which I rather have that then the opposite.

Within the last week, I had 3 guys come-up to me and ask me about the Yaris. Probably, the low financing incentive on the 07 models are ratteling their chains.
