Bad news for my husband's van

I check the oil in my husband's van today, and it was not looking good. The oil was very milky looking. I heard that might be anti-freeze in the oil. I'm trying to convince him to just trade the damn thing in, but he likes it and wants to hold on to it for another year, I don't think so now. The new yaris for him, might be sooner then later.

Haven't we been down this road (before the hack) ......... wasn't it the transmission? Many of us said it then...... dump that van...... it's not going to go up in value.

Yeah, it has all kinds of problems, (I could write a book) my husband is the kind of person to hold on to things until they are really bad. Well I think now its the time to move on and get a new car. I really want him to get a new(er) car now. Well he will change his mind when he takes it in for service. I didn't want to post about his van, but I did it for him, because I love him dearly, but he needs to dump this van now!!!!

At my house it goes more like this, "Glad you're home honey. Here's your new Yaris, I traded the van."

I think that's what I just said. That's how we got to be a 2 yaris family. Well, except the van was a cavalier which he totalled and I used the insurance money to put down on the second yaris.

At least he is not one to leave a marriage at the first sign of trouble.

It's very windy here, maybe a tree will fall on the van... I know I'm thinking bad...but you never know.

It's probably worth the same running as not running..... scrap price.

The tree idea is a nice touch!

If you're going to keep it, then stop driving it right away! Antifreeze in the oil, besides indicating something like a blown head gasket, almost completely eliminates the lubricating capability of motor oil. That's nearly like driving without any oil in the engine.

On the other hand, milky oil could come from condensation caused by the engine not getting hot enough. How is the radiator level?

It's right below the full line. I think we will just get rid of the darn thing and either get a Yaris or some other Toyota.

My husband's back from his trip to CA. I didn't get him a new car, but this monday and tuesday I'm off from work, we are both going to look at new or used Toyota's, becuase we drove the van and the transmission is slipping like crazy. So I will keep you guys posted on what we get, either we are getting a Yaris or some other Toyota, nothing but Toyota. He said he only wants to spend about $9,000, so a Yaris is probably out of the picture for that amount. But we will see.
