Whoa - anaphylactic shock = not cool

More on the ex-girlfriend:

She calls me from work, stating she thinks she's having a reaction to anchovies - some girl that doesn't like her at work or something like that might have pulled a joke not realizing the seriousness - and that'd she'd take some Benadryl she had left, and I'd bring her some more from the pharmacy. Of course, she's already popped her last Epipen, so that's a no-go. I'm not too happy that her bases aren't covered, but I tell my friend who had just come over that we'd do beers some other time, and left.

I get to the pizza place where she works, and she's breathing pretty heavy when she gets in the car, I tell her we're going straight to the E.R. As I'm driving she starts going out on me.

Thank god for snow tires. Blew by a fire truck with the lights on, hammer down. Got to the hospital, a stranger had to help me carrry her in (she's a touch plumper than me ), I put her on the floor, she's barely breathing, and the triage nurse asks me if somethings wrong and how can she help me.

"How about a little bit of FUCKING help here?!?!??!" was my reply.

Anaphylactic shock is serious and and usually results in death if not treated promptly, hope you got her to the hospital in time.In a time like this you have to forget about any ex girl friend baggage and just think about saving a fellow human beings life.

Well what is the outcome? Was it really anaphylactic shock? What time of the night did this happen?

It the future you need to get rid of the hero thoughts and call an ambulance.

She had an extremely severe reaction to seafood (the anchovies). The girl who did this, to my knowledge, has been given the boot (not that it's hard to find a low-paying job around here, but still). Her throat had closed and I recall blue and purple shades in her face...

An EMS guy helped me lift her on a rolling bed (sorry for lack of technical wording here), and promptly took her to a room, while the triage nurse looked on. () Afterwards I had to go chase down the closest parking meter so that my little Yaris wouldn't be towed away.

She came out okay. Thank god, she had me pretty worried when she blacked out. She doesn't remember a thing, I thought she'd at least remember me blowing by the fire truck's sirens, nope.

She was heavily drugged up, so she needed a bit of time to recover, but I just saw her tonight and she's back to her normal mushy self.

Oh, my she was fired. What a terrible punishment....

I wonder what would have happened if your GF ended up brain damaged or dead? Would the Authorities have sent her coworker to her room without supper?

Seriously.... poisoning people is illegal. Why isn't that dumb cow out on bond instead of out of work?

In a Just Nation people who caused anaphylatic shock as a prank would get the same treatment, say Water Boarding. I think a few minutes of being slowly smothered would give them a sense of perspective about their "pranks".

The last thing most people in that situation would want to do is then go and file charges. Really, as if it hasn't been enough of a pain, now you want them to go to the cops and waste who knows how long?

Sounds like a real slack pizza place, did it never occur to any of the employees to call an ambulance?Glad you got there in time.

Your ex girlfriend should file charges against her former co-worker. She could have died.

When I had gotten there she had taken the last bit of Benadryl she had on her, and she was breathing a bit heavy, but "holding" steady and talking with only a bit of difficulty. We were originally only going to the pharmacy (Shopper's Drug Mart, only one open after 9pm around here) to pick up some more, but on the way I guess the original dose wore off... Because she instantly went from bad shape to, well, aweful.

The girl only "lost" her job because there's no way to prove it was her. They have multiple pizza cutters, and even though the pizza my ex ate was supposed to be cut with a clean pizza cutter, there's no way to prove it wasn't (other than that other girl saying some nasty things to my ex ). I originally thought she had put anchovies in it, but my ex, who works at the pizza joint's call center, had taken an order with an anchovies-laced pizza. When my ex placed an order for herself, she put it as an "allergy alert" order, and trust me, I can see the screen at the back of the room flashing from the front counter, about thirty feet away. It lights up like Chuck Norris playing with fireworks.
