Cool new thing...
This my friends is a QR code, used widely in japan, so its jdm...lol. but they are used to hold information like contact numbers, web addresses, and more. After looking it up, I am having one like this made for my car, it contains a bookmark for Yarisworld.com/forums. Hope to get asked about it a lot. Any questions, just look up QR codes online, and if you have the proper application or pbone, you too can scan this and play along with the fun.

2-D graphical barcodes have been around for a long time. One of the reasons that these are cool though is that they can be scanned and read by a camera, like the one in your cell phone... so like real-world hyperlinks. Sugoi!!

well the one at the start of the thread is for yarisworld.
i made it, then checked it with my phone. i also thought it would be cool to include a message with all your mods on it, just cool to tell someone to scan that to see whats all on the car.

well from what i can read, its been around for a while, but only recently has the decoding of these been available to the public in mass form for a short time. its a unique and interesting form of holding information. and it has multiple uses across many spectrums, i just thought it would be a unique and cool way to display information that only a couple people would know what to do with it, and using it to display our forum.

Does it actually scan to anything? I'd want one that simply says "1337"

Ok, it actually says my name 3 different ways: 1) Some of the bars are modified (with cross-pieces) to spell 'aaron' 2) The numbers underneath the bars -- 017586501614 -- if converted into binary yield a 35 digit number. Break that number up into five 7-bit chunks and look at the ASCII representation for each, it spells 'aaron' too. 3) And yes, if you had a scanner that could do a format called EAN-128 (I think), it would scan 'aa'. Ha! ![]() </nerd speak> I don't get this...? (unless you're trying to imply it's "down there"..!)
