Looking at buying a 2003 Yaris
Hi All;
Going for a second look at a Toyota Yaris VVT-i 2003 for my son. Thus far looks pretty good for the year. But just trying to find location of the engine number. I can see 2SZ on the block, but no more numbers. Anyone got any ideas as to where it is located please.. Also on the registration document Veicle details, i notice under "K" Type approval number", i have never seen this before,any ideas what this covers.. Thanks.... 2SZ is the engine code, short for 2SZ-FE.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_SZ_engine I have a 2004 - I live in Canada, and the engine in mine is the 1NZ-FE. |

Because i am situated in UK, it might be different as yours.
We have a VIN number on both Log book and Chassis of car. The Engine number also appears in the same way, its a way of matching the two. Thus far i have no idea where the engine number is under the bonnet... |

I've got a 2SZ-FE, I'll take a look, hang on a mo....
Nope you can't see if from under the bonnet bugger. I think it's under the air cleaner and that guff, it's on the back of the engine under all that. There is a TSB on here about it, T-SB-0301-08 (Engine Serial Number Location) http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...77&postcount=1 Last edited by Mikeey01nzl; 03-25-2011 at 06:53 PM. |

Looked at the link and it don't seem to offer anything for the 2SZ. The log book for the YARIS T Spirit shows it as engine number 2SZD167509. evryone tells me to match the number on the log book to that of which is on the engine, So Looking under the bonnet, i can see clearly at the front right side, 2SZ, which i understand to be a 2003 engine. I can see another set of numbers on the front of the block followed by letters, which i just cannot see properly and still not sure if this is the engine number. I have never known anything to be so hard to get to the bottom of..... regards.. |

SO for all you who don't know where your engine number is on the 2003 Yaris. The number is situated under the starter motor, in our case at the back of the engine. I was always told to check engine number with log book, But can tell you this is almost imposible, Took my chances and purchased the above motor after which drove it to get it on my local garage ramp to view, even then it was almost hidden from view, what a stupid place to place the number... 20,000 on a 2003, i feel was a decent buy.... |
