Scion iq

I drove a new iq Saturday, not a bad car.It needs a rear sway bar,did not like the cheap seats,or the cheap looking radio controls on the steering wheel,or the hatch exposed hatch handle,or the available colors.
This was the car I was going to purchase before the 12 Yaris, but they weren't available in January. Without looking at the iq I would not have seen the new Yaris and would have purchased another make.
Just expressing my opinion for what it's worth......

Hey Rain, is the Iq expensive? More than a Yaris? Congrats!

I'm curious also.

How does the price of the cheapest IQ compare to the price of the cheapest Yaris?

Scion does "Pure pricing" which translates to paying MSRP on every new Scion. It is more expensive than the Yaris but it depends on which Yaris option you get, I guess. My '07 was 15k OTD with all the extra warranty crap.

I am not updated with the Yaris pricing but the Scion iQ starts at $15,600. Mine was $16,205 plus taxes and fees.

I am getting 40mpg on my Yaris but like I said, I'm over it. I've stuck with it for five years, it's a reliable and cheap car. I even kept it because it makes more sense to just keep it. I'm not gonna justify to you why I got an iQ and I'm not gonna ask you why you have a Yaris either, let's keep it at that. But if you must know, I like orange and I've always wanted an orange car BUT I wanted to stay with Toyota. If I was anymore patient, I would have gotten an orange Prius. I could care less about mpgs, I drive 5-10 miles per day so even if I put premium, I'd still be able to afford it.

And as far I'm concern, the less car the better. Parking sucks in my area and my iQ fits right in where my Yaris doesn't.

I saw an orange one yesturday at the lot, kinda liked it, but if they offered the iq in blue lagoon mica and it had the Yaris seats I would own one, even though the rear hatch latch is exposed, that could always be changed....
I would install a canvas sliding roof too,I had a '59 Fiat 500 with one,I also installed one in an '67 chevy van I restored.Good Luck with your iq!!!

Are they readily available, or is there a waiting list?

I bet that's a real advantage with a wheelbase about 20 inches shorter.
Do you mind if I ask what transmission you got with yours? I only saw CVT as the base option.

Readily available. I thought it would be hard to get a Hot Lava(orange) since it's the one they used in the commercials and as expecting it to be in high demand like the bayou blue hatch were but nope, only took me a week to get one. There's a dealership that I pass by everyday and they seem to have the same iQs on display since they first came out months ago. There's a big push for the iQs, free Playstation Vita til July and it looks like there's more supply than demand.

Scion only released a base model for the iQ here in the US. So yes, I have a 1.3 CVT. It also gets less HP than the Yaris

...but it's also lighter.

Observe:

Scion IQ Curb Weight: 1896
Scion 1.3 Horsepower: 93

20.30 pounds per horsepower.

Yaris Curb Weight: 2293
Yaris 1.5 Horsepower: 106

21.63 pounds per horsepower

You have 6% less weight per horsepower.

Wheelbase is 20" shorter??? Now that spells trouble on any slick surface!

I still say it was designed by Fisher-Price...

If I could get an iQ with a manual transmission, I'd consider it. I enjoyed the one we reviewed.

I'd almost seriously look at one if it came with a six speed transmission and cost $10k.

Ditto. But I wouldn't trade my Yaris in for one.
