Well I'm pissed....UPDATE!

ok so we've had nothing but problems with teh stealership since we bought my wife's '07 yaris hatchback....
everything ranging from them lying to us outright and then saying "oh well"
to them performing accessory installs and putting dents in the roof....


well this takes the cake.
we bought the Japanese Yaris RS Wing and took it to get painted blazing blue
we go to pick it up and the guy brings us the box and it has the wing but it's painted indigo blue



my wife has a blazing blue painted yaris




and this is the wing:






what I wanna know is...what should I ask for to be done? I talked with teh general Manager and he said let him know what I want to do

they're repainting it ( i hope primer and everything)
and they're fixing the tint that they put a big gash in and put on incorrectly (lots of bubbles everywhere)

should I ask for a DEEP discount on paint and install or ask for everything to be comped?

I already told him he has lost us as customers and he apologized and I told him everyone we know and so on will hear nothing but negative about them

ANYONE HAVE IDEAS?

everything and go ahead and file a complaint with the better business bureau, that's always my policy with shit customer service, if they resolve you can remove the complaint, if not at least it is out there on there record

ask for everything to be free. if they don't want that, complain to both the BBB and the Bureau of Automotive Repair. that's why i did when i was having so many problems with this one company called Autohaus.

Check the redo work careful. If it is anything like my stealership, now that you told them you aren't coming back and that you will tell friends they'll screw something up on purpose. If they do, write some letters ma friend.

You ought to take that spoiler, turn it sideways, and stick it straight up............

being in a sort of "customer service" position myself... I get to see both approaches, and both get the point across. The dealer should volunteer to fix it right off, at least, if I screwed up an order THAT bad, I'd fix it or build a new box.

I'm thinking of how to make sure they repainted it properly (sanded off all the paint and primer and then re-primered and painted)...

Should I nick off some of the paint where the bolt hole cover goes?

well we went in today to get the wing finally, and it's painted correctly. we talk to the manager of the Toyota body shop. My wife accidentally blurbs that we were quoted (over the phone w/o them seeing the piece) $250. well i tell him after that when we brought it to them they retracted that and said we can do it for $160. the guy apparently thinks that we were getting a discount since thwey told us originally that it would be 250 (he thinks we re getting like 90 bucks off wrong!) I tell him that we were told 250 because they don't do the quotes over the phone and that was just to give us a rough estimate. well after I try and explain the whole thing about them painting it wrong and the guy handling the work order not looking it over the first time it was painted, he decides that $10 off is good enough.

I tell him, "umm why 160 to 150?"

"because he(the w/o guy) already reduced the labor and paint rates for you'

"No that was when they hadn't seen the piece yet"

"well this is the best I can do for you"

"I'd be willing to pay you $120."

"nope. $150 is the lowest we will go. The w/o is closed out and finalized on this price"

"ok. hold onto the wing for me I'm going to go and talk to the Dealership GM"

"hey no problem. but he is just going to call me and ask me to do what I think is fair. and I'm going to tell him that $150 is fair enough. we've got to make money somehow and we're barely going to make a profit as it stands right now."

"yeah sure. whatever you say. I'll be right back"

"good luck" he says sarcastically.

we go talk to the GM and he calls up the body shop manager

"hey Tony it's Bob...mmhmmm....mmmhmmm....ok.....mmmhhhmmm.

Well were going to go ahead and eat the cost on this one. alright bye."

he hangs up looks at us and says bluntly, "I'm the boss, The GM. What i say goes. they'll have your part over there ready for you to pick up.



SUMMARY: we paid NOTHING for the paint! woohah!

I owned the body shop manager and it felt good hehe....the thing is though we were willing to pay something, we weren't expecting it for free but it is nice...

I really have a dislike for dealerships too. I am really tired of them acting like they are the only show in town and that they are doing me a favor by taking my money and lying to me! I have purchased about 10 new cars in my life and fought the dealer on every last purchase. My Yaris came from the dealer I purchased my last Tacoma at and he didn't even try any crap with me as we went threw the wringer on the last deal. I had a part time gig at a dealership and am up too speed on the games so many of them play. Ya, there are a few good guys out there, but hard to find........

oh man these stories scare me... im kinda scared to go buy a new car now, thinking that what ever i do, they'll always find a way to screw me over..
