Noob turbo (zage) questions
Decided to start another thread as i have lots of really noob questions
Below is what I plan using for my oil return: 10AN fittings. Question: Do i need any sort of paste or compound to assemble these things? There are not any sort of rubber spacers inside. It looks as if I just need to assemble them tight and aluminum against aluminum (convex vs concave surface) should provide a tight seal. Opinions? Thanks |

Do not use tape or paste on AN fittings. The taper seals it.

What engine oil are you (turbo heads) using?
Can I keep using Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 (that I like a lot)? |

I'm pretty sure oils will indicate in writing on the back weather they're safe for turbos or not. Full synthetics usually work best.

5w30 synth is good -- I don't run anything exotic. I change it a lot more often.

I'd use permatex black or equivalent where the fitting connects to the inside/outside of the block. You won't be threading it into the block, as it's too thin to really grab any of the threads.

18mm? that sounds a lot larger than necessary.
