catless exhaust for 4d sedan?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OBX-Cat-Back...f028a0&vxp=mtr
Is that a typo? So now they're saying the obx exhaust is a universal fit between the hatch and sedan? That would mean the sedan exhaust almost hides under the bumper since the b-pipe with cat is something like 3 inches longer than the hatch... Not necessarily a horrible thing, but I still have yet to find a nitto midpipe-esque option for the sedan... |

That exhaust is marketed as cat back and in the same post it says its a "Turbo back" lol
Someone else already purchased this a while ago. It is a header back but for N/A and it is for the sedan which i dont think will fit the hatch and even on the sedan i dont think it really did fit perfect i think he had to reweld some pieces. It also sounded really ricey iirc. I didnt read through but I think its this thread http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...&highlight=obx |

I'm trying to figure out if I should do something about my downpipe or my cat-back. Was thinking of the Perrin Quad-Tip cat back but I'd rather pinpoint the problem first. If it's the downpipe, I'd rather switch that out first.

Yes, universal mufflers, you pick offset (or not) and weld in. They did make my old Caprice sound nice (low quiet rumble until you get on it). In my area, there are 2 good, old school shop owners that weld great, and can custom just as great, with 30 years doin it, you better be, right ? It was just a thought. Last Toyo I had, my Taco extended cab, I was thinking of welding (not me) two Vortex mufflers in place. For me, besides sound, is flow. I saw these compared to flowmasterz and win. The Vortex has 578 cfm and 3 inch pipe has 598. They have an 11% restriction compared to flowz 27%. Because of the engine size, I was thinking glass pack in place of resonator and vortex in place of whatever Toyota had goin back there, looks kinda odd for a muffler. Anyone know pipe sizes ?

30 years huh? Just because one has been around that long doesnt necessary mean the work is good. Not hating on your guy...I have no idea of his work, but there is alot iffy stuff out there. There is 2 shops near by us with that kind of "experience" yet its some of the most half assed shit I have ever seen. Then on top of that they use crush-bent tubing (which is a downgrade on any modern car) so performance benifits of a "higher flowing" muffler is thrown out the window.
Im all for proper fabrication, no matter who does the work.

Agreed, quality from shop to shop can vary so wildly it will spin your head, wallet and mess up your car. Some of the best techs I have ever worked with are at dealerships. Dealerships get a lot of hatin, but really, when there is no one else to turn to, they go there. Me, I have a nitch in my Ford dealership where I turn wrenches, if no one wants it, I get it. If it is not a Ford, I get it. I got a Nissan to do later this morning, multiple leaker. Anyway, agreed on the other pipes, I was more pushin on the Cherry Bomb Vortex as I loved their sound on the 8 cyl. One can merely have those welded in, but an easier solution would be bolt in TRD or Borla or whomever makes it. Having used to live up North, and wanting less road noise, I used 3M undercoating on my whole underside (2 cans) (use 3 or 4 for a second, heavier coat/I didn't) and high heat paint on my exhaust (and rims), hubcap-less, for now. High heat paint will negate the rust from the outside, anyway. I was asking really for the size, if anyone knew.

The stock stuff is 1.75" is okay for basically commuter status. 2" is ideal for sporty use and supports bolt ons.
The cherry bomb vortex is a great sounding muffler and is built tough. However it is aluminized steel and will eventually rust out. The factory tubing is 18ga 409ss. So ild at least match it. On sedans I can verify a 2.5" axle back with a 2chamber flowmaster sounds alarmingly very well and is availible in 409ss. Straight-thru ss mufflers like the dynomax ultraflo, magnaflow traditional and the Jones maxflow will be a little more mellow, smoother sounding.

The ultra racing 23m rear sway bar did wonders to my sedan and takes less then 10minutes to install. I recomend that first.
