Housing - here's what a $$$ million gets you here
not far from where i live - everything here sells immediately for way over asking due to the severe housing shortage
the middle class areas where you might feel safe raising a family start at $1.5 - 1.8M disgusting https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sal...2_zm/6_p/1_fr/ https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sal...2_zm/6_p/1_fr/ Last edited by justanotherdrunk; 03-07-2018 at 07:48 PM. |

You have to be loco to live in certain parts of this country/world, for a variety of reasons - and ultra-high cost of living is a good reason.

Why so cheap? You'd be lucky to get a decent 2 bedroom condo for that price in NYC.

meanwhile a friend of mine is house hunting for 2400 sqft homes in cleveland ohio and found a few ranging from 100-150k.....
my current home is in serra mesa 1200 sq feet, two car garage, shed in the back yard that has grass actually. and the driveway is sinking into the earth from wenst it came.. and just ranked in at 570... but that figure is now old and i think its closer to 600k now? and its frank garbage. for reference https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sal...t/15_zm/0_mmm/ |

Here's a one bedroom 585 sq ft. apartment for a reasonable 1.8 million. Oh and it has a $500 a month HOA. Taxes extra. I used to live in this neighborhood. USED to.

Never thought I'd say it but I've also been thinking about leaving CA. With the equity I have in my house I'd be able to nearly pay off a house in a number of other states.
In terms of house pricing, if CA is the bum, Silicon Valley is the brown eye. |

Leaving Cali would be smart. I'd look into growing population states and gross economy and pick up a handful of cities and look there. Off the top of my head places like Alabama Arkansas and Missouri aren't bad state wide but city wise there's a handful in Texas Tennessee even Pennsylvania are growing

My thought was going right over the CA border so we're not all that far from friends and family. Arizona wouldn't be bad. Colorado would be ideal but it's not nearly as cheap as AZ or NV.

I was looking at Arizona as well. Heck, you can buy a new single family home just outside Tucson or Phoenix for $150-200K.

Yeah, cost of living is reasonable here - only slightly more than it was in Atlanta, GA for me. Can't escape the legion of idiot and/or hormonal drivers though, it seems, no matter where you live.
