well some of you may already know how to do this, but it was recently brought to my attention and i thought it was sheer genius and figured i would share it.
although i love the placement of the cup holders in the yaris, the one thing that sucks is getting hot coffee spilt on your legs as you hit bumps in the road or take corners when using the traditional canadian tim horton's take-out cup, but this would probably apply for cups from many establishments, from around the world.

so what you do is, when pulling up the tab on the lid, instead of snapping it back into it's designed placement,
fold the lip of the tab under itself and push it under the lid itself.
i hope that is easy to understand, if not, i could probably get some picks or draw a diagram.

a full coffee WILL NOT spill and the coffee is just as drinkable.

genius i tell you. maybe i'm the last canadian on earth to discover this, but there it is.

That works, but the better solution would be to bring your own cup, one of the types that's designed for use in automobiles. Not only does this not spill, but it insulates the coffee even better, has a more appropriately-sized drinking hole, and it is infinitely reusable, consuming no additional non-renewable sources (i.e. styrofoam cups and plastic lids) every day.

The other good thing about bringing your own cup is they usually fill it up thus you getting more coffee for the same price :)

We did it all the time when I worked at A&W years ago.

damn! can't get anything past you bailout! lol

i usually brew my own coffee and bring it in my stainless steel cup, but there is the odd time i get the disposable variety.
not ideal but a human must have their coffee.

I use about 17 styrofoam cups a day at work for water and coffee.

When I finish a cup I toss it and get another one when I want a refill with the exception of wharm ups.

Lots of places won't fill your personal cup anyway, for health reasons (possibly also to control portion size). Maybe Starbucks will if you bring in one of their travel mugs, but as far as I know places like McDonald's will not.

starbucks does make a great brew, but just to be rebellious, i always order a large, medium or small.

the great canadian tim horton's uses the cheapest beans they can buy and then flavour the coffee with chikoree. i have heard the chikoree is mildly addictive, and judging by the popularity of tim horton's in this country i wouldn't be surprised, because the coffee is nothing to write home about.

mcdonald's, do they even serve edible food there?
