Have you noticed that people stare at you while out and about? Particularly the Hatchback. At least I have noticed.

You are exactly right. I have been telling this to people for years. My Honda Civic was a hemi as well! "Yep it's a Hemi", what a dumbass catch phrase.

If the sparkplugs go in the top of the engine, it is a hemi!

Everyone stares at me while driving, maybe because I fly past them in they Hemi powerd cars/trucks like they are standin still

Yes I have. I have also had people ask me what kind of car it is and if I like it. We also have a Mazda5, of which there aren't many around, and people give it glances all the time as well. The Yaris really stands out in a crowd.

yeah, i have had that happen alot since i got the car. it has been rebadged with the netz emblems since the day that i got it. people are not really sure what the hell it is even though we have had the car on the road for over a year here in salty winterland...

i think its funny, i just yell at them with the windows closed and say its just a toyota yaris, now stop staring and drive...

this is a Hemi. notice the combustion chamber is sepherical? like a ball?

just becasue the SP is in the middle and at the top does not a hemi make...

Sure it does... All modern hemispherical heads are based on the same theory, the difference is optimal quench area changes the shape from that antiquated "dome" chamber you posted.

this is a hemi from the new dodge hemi engines

this is a pent head design that is typical of all 4 valve per cylinder engines...

there is a difference and this one is not a hemi.

Just because the spark plug sits centered above the combustion chamber does NOT make it a hemi head engine....this is wrong thinking....the hemispherical shape of the head is what makes it a hemi...most car makers make "hemi's" these days....Ford even had one in the '60s....the Hemi has been around since the late 1930's so it is NOTHING new....

I've had a young lady in a mall parking lot that she liked my car since she had parked next to my car and had peeked tn the windows to check it out. On the road very few people notice, as a previous poster said, I zip past them.

The lower picture is of a pentroof hemi design head. The pentroof which uses 4 valves instead of 2 is actually better than the regular hemi that dodge uses. (allows for bigger openings for inlet and exhaust) They both have hemisperical heads. Hemis are the most efficient combustion chamber design, so that is why they are used by just about all engine makers today.
