Guess it was my turn... Yaris vs. deer
so i guess it was my turn to get my car mangled. here are some pics (like all the pictures i post, sorry for the cell phone pics)
a bit of a story behind it, i work nights and today we finished early (6:30am)so i was excited to be on my way home, the drive is about 20mins from my house, when i was about 2 mins away from home i drive along a main road (4 lanes) that goes through a park area (park on both sides) for about 100feet. i was doing about 80km/h and the road has a slight curve. thats when the deer came out..... the part that really pissed me off is the fact that he didnt die!! im sorry, i am an animal lover but that one needed to be laying in the middle of the road. and the ppl who stopped wanted to find the stupid deer..... ugh!!! i do feel i lucked out, bumper has a small crack that im sure will be able to be filled and painted and i need a new fender and head light, thats it, the hood is slightly bent but ill be able to see how much once i get my new headlight. ill be doing the work all myself (as i have already started)

seeing it torn apart in the garage leads me to believe insurance is not paying for this....

Been lucky so far. The biggest thing I ever hit was a 30 pound dog. Sorry about your car.

That's an easy DIY fix if you're handy with this type of thing. BUT, being as this is a pretty new car, I would leave it to a pro who has all the right tools and a paint booth.

Glad that you're okay! Some deer hits can end up tragic. I imagine that the Brampton area can have lots of wildlife on the road. Deer, Elk or even worse... one of those darn Moose!!!!
I live on 40 acres in rural Minnesota and feed the deer during the winters. It's fun to watch them in the yard and see the fawns in the Spring. But I also like seeing them harvested in the Fall. While it might sound a little cruel, every harvested deer is one car or truck accident avoided in my book. Good luck with getting the Yari back on the road soon. My bet is that you'll be scanning the road even harder in the future.. |

my insurance deductable it $1500, doing all the work myself.
new fender is already in for paint, bumper i patched up (and patched plate holes) and was sent for paint also. new headlight is on its way and all the clips i needed came in today. when i get the headlight in ill be able to decide if i need a new hood or not. i already fixed the alignment of the hood and since it was all apart i gots me a train air horn :)

That sucks sorry to see. At least it hit the side and not the front for the airbags to go off. Can't wait to see the final product off your home body shop. Which I had the skill to fix my car. At least it will be to your specs and approval. Not sure if they work but see if you could get those deer whistle at canadian tire.

Glad you are okay. I admire your ability to fix the car.
As long as the bumper is off, why not upgrade the horn? |

i have never done body repair work before, i mostly know mechanical work but i have taken off enough body panels to know by now how to put it back together. lol. as for the silly deer noise things imo its not worth it, the amount of times i see deer is so slim its not worth it to have stupid little silver things on my hood. also if the deer was not turned away from the noise of my car at 4000rpm with my intake/header/exhaust/speakers/sub i highly doubt that will work well enough. only thing i regret now is not getting projectors before i ordered my new lights.

those air horns are crazy, if that doesn't scare a deer away i don't know what would.
That does really stink though, but it could always be worse, the deer could have gone through your windshield.
