Haha, no I am not, they do work. That's how I keep my yaris at 45mpg+ in winter otherwise it goes well below the 40s and takes forever to warm up.

Here's my set up from a few years ago. I think it works pretty well, I see intake temps between 75-90*F. I wouldn't be afraid to drive my Yaris on a hot summer day with those temps so why not in the winter. |

I'm surprised they don't make warm air intakes from the factory, with computer controlled solenoids they would open and close quickly.

The first or second gen prius has the airbox right next to the hot coolant reservoir, that is the closest attempt I've seen other than modern cars getting shutter flaps in the grills to restrict air flow on warm up.

Instead of doing a warm air intake, do a grille/rad block off. That way, the engine stays warm as well, and the intake always gets warm air with a hot engine.

Nice setup! How much improvement have you noticed in fuel efficiency with your warm air intake during winter conditions? ex-x-fire Do you experience any drawbacks or challenges with your warm air intake setup during the winter months? IndestructibleYaris Could you share more details about your grille/rad block off setup, and how it impacts the engine's performance and efficiency in cold weather? |

Only drawback is the engine seems a little sluggish. That tells me it's getting plenty of warm air.
