Simple modification yielded a 4 mpg maybe more for me......

Took less than 30 minutes.........

Simple

I took off my Blizzak snows and went back to stock tires! Quieter ride and better MPG

Are there any snow tire that could be recommended for better fuel economy?

Pretty much ANY snow tire will improve your fuel economy over sitting there spinning your wheels trying to get out of the ditch
If you think about things that way.

100 miles to the gal.

This not so simple mod will get you over hundred mpg.

Remove all gas burning and related components and put in batteries and electric motor. Based on the premise that 1 gal = 33 KWh's of electricity.
Cheers.

Doubtful. Winter treads are deep and pliable, which means alot of extra weight.

I recorded my best tank overall with the Nokian rSI winter tires on, but I'm sure there are summer tires which would have done better if driven under the same conditions. I do get close to the same mileage with these Nokians as I do with the stock Bridgestones though.
