5 point harness ready?
I stripped my car down to the floor boards in preparation to meet up with solar vitz this weekend. As I was pulling the carpet up I noticed there was a reinforcement bar down the middle of both passenger and driver side floor boards. I paused for a second then I thought to myself wow, wouldn't that be cool if it was pre-threaded for a 5 point harness!
so i grab a bolt and what do you know it starts to screw in. Kinda cool! so is that what toyota intended to do or is it something more? (dunnnn do dunnnnnnnnnnnnnn) |

for the shoulder straps? ive read that the shoulder straps should be mounted equal hieght or higher then your shoulders. if you mount then lower like in the spot you showing it would damage your spine on impact because of the way the force is distributed.

cool i didnt know you were in san diego i'll be down sunday - wed or thurs
yea I might drop you a PM maybe have a mini yaris meet or something lol 90tsi, the bolts are in the front floor pan, so shoulder harness might now work best in that position :) but yes you are right, you would need a harness bar or something funny part was i was stripping the car at like 3am (its been like 108+ here in phoenix) and i pull the carpet up and im like "thats kinda odd, ive never seen that before" then im sitting there and i grab a bolt and im like "no way will this screw in" and what do you now it starts to screw in! i was shocked to find that, ive never seen that on any other car before |

90tsi, he meant for the "5th" strap, the crotch strap. thus the title of the thread.

that is WAY too far forward to be of any use as a 5th point. unless you're sitting on the floor lol
my guess is that it's a mounting point used by the factory during production. something to bolt the chassis to during paint or something like that?

In a perfect world lol
But seriously I was looking at these pictures and just looked at my yaris and thought the same thing , that these holes were to far away from my seat. What do you think about drilling hole into the front "cross bar" of a wedge engineering bracket and using a bolt/nut and 2 x washers too mount the "crotch strap" (bevis&butthead voice "huh huh you said crotch strap huh huh " )
