Help from the photographers.
So I know nothing about photography, and my busted a$$ camera I've had for 8 years isn't gonna cut it anymore. It doesn't even have a lens anymore, just the shutter. And I'm on a high-school/college transition budget, so my limit is $200 plus a memory card. I've been looking around and I think I've narrowed my pick down too these...
#1 http://www.crutchfield.com/p_280A590...IS.html?tp=262 #2 http://www.crutchfield.com/p_072S100...fd.html?tp=262 I'm gonna be taking alot of automotive pictures. And some other pictures; portraits, animals, scenery, etc. I honestly don't know anything about cameras, and I need help choosing what I should get. Any other suggestions are welcome. |

The aperture range on the Canon is wider than the Fujifilm.
IMO, the only thing the Fujifilm has on the Canon is the optical zoom (12x vs. 4x on the Canon.), the internal memory (24MB vs nothing on the Canon) and a couple of extra scene modes which anyone rarely uses.. If you're mostly taking car pics, you will rarely ever need the extra zoom, and you're getting a memory card anyway, so internal memory isn't a deciding factor here. Both have a Manual mode, something indispensable to taking good pictures, so you'd actually be good with any of these you decide to buy. I'd say go with the Canon. Which, IMO takes the best looking unedited pictures if compared to pretty much anything but a Nikon.. Plus, it's got an optical viewfinder, might be just me being picky but I hate electronic viewfinders. |

he looks kinda goofy, but he's pretty smart. I agree the Canon is the better deal.

I would go with the Fujifilm camera. It has a lot of useful features that will be handy: 10 megapixel, 12X optical zoom, face detection, ISO 1600 for low light, shutter or aperture priority, continuous shooting, VGA movie, etc... The drawback is it's bigger and heavier.

It's just me..... I would continue to save money and get a DSLR.
Right now you are using the full budget and you are yet unsudre of brand. Best IMO to wait, do research and save money...... then get a camera that will do it all. My vote on the two you posted..... Fuji over the Canon just because of the optical zoom (Digital zoom means crap).

Most people who enjoy photograpy ALWAYS want the better camera. It is human nature to want MORE....Bigger....Better. Try the patience route and save up for the bigger and better up front.

... I'd never disagree with the fact that getting it new is a better idea, but when you're on a budget you're on a budget. We can't all be slingin' money around like you PK.

How is shopping with Dell? They have this package, http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...098&lid=674095, which I think is a good deal for the camera and a 4 gig memory card.
