computer problem

I had my dell Desktop sitting collecting dust for a while and took out the hard drive and put it in an usb external exclosure and noticed that some of my files werent showing up on my Rig. The hard drive properties showed that it was using 60 gigs of data and inside the hard drive folder there was only 20 gigs. So that leads to wheres my 40 gigs? Unusual. Help!

u might be doing something wrong...the second image is just a folder's properties not the j: drive properties that is why u r only getting 20 gb of files!

is the second image the main folder to the j: drive?

Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management. Expand Storage in left pane select Disk Management. Check to see if the drive is partitioned.

Hopefully a silly question, but.... Is the USB encloseure size-limited? Some of the cheaper ones are "old tech" that may not be able to recognize a drive bigger than 20Gb

40 gigs of porn!

Seriously, here's a good program you can try to use to see what's in there:

sp1 is limited to 128gb.

old usb enclosure MIGHT be limited to 160gb.

but if the partition was created before, then it will have no problems accessing it.
