Car alarm Install WOW

Never realized the pain of installing a car alarm. Theres not a lot of room under the dash for a cruise control system, car alarm, remote start, auto window up/down, and heads up display control. All is in except window control and remote start.
Then on to the dynamat finish, just the doors left to do.

That will be tomorrows knucle buster.....

Car alarms are useless..... Really they are.....

How many times a day do you hear a car alarm going off? When you hear one do you run to it like "A strangers car alarm is going off, i better go and check up on his/her car for them".

People ignore car alarms. I know I do. You're better off putting that money into car insurance. Besides, who is going to steal a Yaris? Most people steal high powered cars, sports cars or really common cars to strip em down for parts.

People tend to leave economy cars alone, apart from door dints at car parks. If they do steal your Yaris, that's what your insurance is for in the first place.

I'm using the Defi-link VSD display. I really like it. It's mounted in the dash ( had to cut a hole for it, looks really nice though). I need to upload a few pictures of my baby for people to see. I'm a gadget guy, so I have lots of stuff in it.

Cool! I'd definitely like to see pics of the VSD installed.

Why lock your doors? Burglars just ignore your locks and brake your windows? You're better off just buying insurance.

In reality, a car alarm is very useful, unless you often park your car in the middle of BFE, where no one can hear it. If a car alarm goes off at the mall, and people see a broken window and some random person scrambling around with stereo equipment in their hand, they usually call the police. Sure a car alarm won't stop 100% of thefts, just most.

And this isn't "Gone in 60 seconds." People steal economy cars MORE than exotic cars.

Good points there.

http://www.statefarm.com/learning/be..._cartheft1.asp

Look at all the lamborghinis and ferraris on this list. wow.

As for car alarms - Every insurance company gives discounts for a car alarm - amounting to 10s of millions of dollars a year they are losing - why? because car alarms work, and they make that money back NOT replacing stolen cars. Like I said, they're not gonna work EVERY time, but saying they're useless is a little ridiculous.

The club - now THERE is a useless auto theft deterrent.

Finally finished, added glass breakage sensor, and radar inside, also battery back-up. I can remote start the car now, also power up the windows when the alarm is set. Trivia,,,,the strobes go on when the alarm goes off, looks wild. Pictures to come soon.

i just put in my dei python system not too long ago, so i feel your pain! embarrassingly enough, it took 4 days to get a lock actuator in, 45 mins for the second (once i knew what i was doing), and another dedicated day for the alarm to work properly. but after reading all that yours does.. strobes/windows/remote start... jeez! two points to you.

I'm thinking of getting an alarm with the power lock kit I'm gonna purchase. Not so much worried about it getting stolen, but rather if I decide to get a video head unit or other interior mods for my car and don't want them stolen easily.
