Solid Motor Mounts

Hey everyone.

I'm getting some solid motor mounts made for my car. A couple questions...

[1] Does anyone have some Yaris motor mounts sitting around that I can borrow? I know it is a long shot. I'm just trying to avoid "borrowing" some from the dealership, ieL buying and returning.

[2] Would anyone be interested in buying some? For anyone who plans on running some serious power, these would help you get it to the ground. If there is interest I can have more sets made. If not no biggy.

They're being built by Beech Performance who also did my exhaust. They also built this: http://www.forced4s.com/forums/viewt...&t=402&start=0 Very capable shop that loves their Toyotas.

Well, just remember I told you to try the trans mount. That's where the motion is.

Keep us posted!! -- when you say solid, do you mean SOLID?

Yeah... go big or go home, LOL.

Maybe I'll get the trans mount done at the same time.

That is a good question actually. Am I better off going w/ poly bushings to keep it more streetable? I'm not sure what to expect from solid mounts, but the engine doesn't make THAT much power so I'm thinking it won't be as bad as, say, solid mounts on a Camaro or something. (which is like sitting on a magic finger bed)

If I was as daring as you, I would probably give the polyurethane a shot prior to going solid. Even with the urethane, you can make holes in the mounts to fine tune the stiffness.

solid mounts will not make more power. They do help deliver it to the ground, but the cost in 'streetability' can be pretty severe. Props to you for doing it!

I know they won't make more power. I'm saying if the car was putting 300 to the ground *ahem* you'd be nuts to run solid mounts, but at a conservative 8 psi it might not be so bad. The benefits may outweigh the disadvantages... maybe.

Either way, first I need to get a set of OEM's.

Ah, talked to the wisdomous one and he talked me into chilling on the mounts, getting the torque damper and going from there, so I just ordered that. I'll let you guys know how that goes. Track day #2 is Tuesday, May 19th weather permitting w/ new tires and the damper.

^^ There's a thread on here about someone who tried polyurethane mounts, and he said the car was shaking too much, so he had to drill the polyurethane down. His car was NA too.

I have sat in jkuchta's car with the C-One trans mount. It was VERY loud and lots of vibration -- not wifey friendly at all!
