Rear speaker possibilities
I got my Yaris last week and couldn't be happier, with the only complaint that there doesn't seem any possibilities for speakers in the rear. I've been looking around the forums and it seems there is. Is this just for newer versions? Mine is a 2000 Yaris 1.0 vtti: (Click for pic).
Is there a location for rear speakers that I'm completely missing?? I don't want to have to start messing with the parcel shelf but the front speakers alone aren't cutting it. |

Most members on this board have the 2nd gen Yaris... we had the 1st gen hatchback in Canada (as the Echo), but the States never got it. You could possibly check some of the Europe or South/Central American subforums for info about the older Yaris... o/w there might be other boards with more model specific info!

there are no room for speakers in the rear... unless you install them on the hatch cover...
but that will cause too many vibrations. |

Might have to be a parcel shelf job, not sure if I can handle just front speakers!

In a first gen Yaris hatchback I had, I put 3.5 inch speakers in the rear headrests. Worked just fine, and didn't destroy the hatch cover.

rear speakers are a horrible idea... save yourself money & hassle and just buy better front speakers.... it'll sound better in the end.

We did have the Echo in the states. We got the current hatchback Yaris a year later than Canada, and the 5 door Yaris just this year.

the RS trim did not exist in 3 doors in Canada. I'm very surprised to see those plugs on a 3 doors as i'm 100% sure mine did not have them. Also, a friend of mine who installed the RS side skirts on his 3 doors CE did not have those holes.. he had to take off all the push pins and have it glued on differently than OEM. |
